> Perhaps Dr Bob is sometimes absent because, in between lecturing, grading papers, reading medical literature, writing research papers, editing journals, attending research conferences, etc. -- perhaps he simply doesn't have all that much time to spend on Psycho-Babble.
*Indeed, I beleive that is the prob....
> Perhaps, as a psychiatrist, he understands the importance of spending quality time with his wife and children, and he chooses to be a good father by using his spare time for his family, instead of neglecting his family and using his spare time to field abuse from angry posters on Psycho-Babble.
*He got a wife and kids?
I don't think the abuse really bothers him too much from what i gather. I think he understands that some of it is in fact somewhat justified, and given the nature of the people here, hes GOT to expect theres gonna be 'issues'.
Thats nice you trying to back him up :-) but he a big boy, I think he can take care of himself!!
If he is a dad, I REALLY hope he does spend some time with his kids, he seems to travel a fair amt.
As far as abuse from babblers, he tends to just ignore it, I don't think it takes much of his time. Cost/benefit ratio....

> I totally agree with Jamal. Why does everyone here insist that Bob "fix everything?" What needs fixing? What do you want from this site - if you want a place where you can get support from fellow babblers - then you have everything you need. Why can't you be more grateful. Stop being so demanding. Maybe this is why other relationships in your life fail. Show some respect, please, for a man who lives an academic life, who has dozens of other commitments, and who, in spite of all the commitments, still manages to come to babble occasionally and respond very thoroughly and insightfully. Why can't you respect that?
*OUCH!!!!!
S'ok, I got thick skin.
I can't really reply to what you said, cuz it might just cause further upset. I will just say we will have to agree to disagree.
> And Muffled, please do not use foul language as the suject heading for your post. You used the asterix, but it's glaringly obvious how ugly your language is, and how insolent and ungrateful your tone is. Your sunject heading is very offensive to many here, and is like a slap in the face to all of us who open this board. Please realize than not everyone shares your opinion of Dr. Bob, and do not use foul language to "get attention" because it is very rude, offensive, and off-putting. As is the general tone of your whole post.*sigh :-(
This hurt.
I am who I am, I am trying to accept all who I am.
I am trying to grow from the opinion that I am an utterly disgusting piece of s***. You do not know my history or me or I am sure you would not say these things. I am truly sorry if my choice of language affected you so badly. I just kinda wished you didn't have to lash back. It hurt me, I am not easily hurt. I will get over it, its OK. I am sure it was just anger response on your part and I am sorry f0r triggering that in you.
> Frankly I am expecting to get a PBC for this, and I will risk it, because I feel strongly about what I am saying. It is really off-putting to come here and see so many people soooo demanding, like babies, insisting that Dr. Bob come "fix" things. Maybe what needs fixing for you is not the board at all. Maybe your anger is displaced. Ever consider that? Dr. Bob is a physician, and many other things as well (as Jamal pointed out). How many people here can claim to be even a fraction as busy as he is? Don't whine or complain.*well, no PBC is requiered unless someone reports it and we cannot work it out ourselves. I am fine with it all. I understand anger and outbursts cuz I do it myself!
Take care,
again I am sorry I triggered you somehow.
I don't know you, but I hope you can enjoy babble, there are good people here.

sorry you are sad muffs.. it makes me kinda sad too. But why are you angry now about it?? It already happened and is over with??? I don't know, maybe i missed something?? I don't agree with all the pain and hurt is caused either.. It is one thing to apologize and really mean it but if the behavior just continues then the apology doesn't count for much, does it?? take care muffled. If this is the way it has always been then i guess we can just expect it and know that it is just the way it is.. maybe a new doc will open a site somewhere for us..

> Frankly I am expecting to get a PBC for this,Actually, since I have already issued a PBC to you on another thread, I am simply going to remind you of the board guidelines. The two guidelines most relevant to this post are the rules against posting anything which could lead others to feel accused or put down; and the rule which states that, if one believes that a post has violated board guidelines or is otherwise offensive, one does not post that belief publicly on the boards. That is exactly why the notification system exists, and I would ask that you and all other Babblers use it in future.
Thank you,
Deputy Racer

It does have some appeal.

so, what was i thinking again? oh, were you responding to what i said to muff? i might need clarification, especially since my communications skills are certainly not up to par lately.
so, to keep it simple, were you agreeing with me? (it's always better to agree with kk, you know :)

Sorry - that was to Muffled. I was trying to be supportive. Instead I was confusing.
I was sorta saying that we (the poor, crazy, down trodden) get to holler at the bob (rich, less crazy, better car).
Vive les trodden was a pathetic attempt at humor related to Vive la France - long live France.

Yes. :)
You have the ultimate detachment. It allows you to at least *appear* to never be hurt.
I'm ambivalent about whether I wish that quality for myself or not.

Mebbe you don't get hurt, mebbe you have passing moments of irritation.
But you know you can shut us down.
You can delete at will with no repercussions.
You can ostracise purely at your own discretion.
Yup, you got power.
Thats why I back off.

You seem to actually know more about stuff than I think I know about stuff.
You have a nicer camera than I do.
You have an uglier couch than I do.
Sad that I've known you for four years and I can't think of more things.

Bob - I was being very concrete in my explaining to KK what I meant. My prior post to Muffy referred not to you "having things" that we don't. It was about you being the power-holder here. We, the down-trodden have none. You can squash any one of us at any time, or flush the whole site if you are bored.
I'm quite sure you have lots more stuff than I have.
But you can't buy empathy or people skills even with an MD salary.

And you(Bob) having power isn't necc an issue unto itself, there will always be those who have power over others whether we like it or not. But the issue lies with the fact that at times I feel you wield your power in ways that I cannot comprend and do not agree with.
Even with major poster dissent...
And then...you walk away...not saying a thing....despite entreaties...poof...
