Question About Blocks

Posted by Phillipa on November 8, 2007, at 21:40:10

So if someone is blocked they can't post a new name before the block is up? And how do old posting names fit into this? Thanks for your patience sorry to be a pain. Phillipa

If someone’s blocked, they’re not supposed to post anything before their block is up.

> And how do old posting names fit into this?

Sometimes when I block new names I keep them blocked. Posters then have the option of going back to their old names or picking new new names.

Thank-you for answering Dr. Bob don't think a lot of people know this and is it in the Faq? As I'm lazy about reading it. Phillipa ps so posting a new name while blocked is considered posting I think I understand now. ps I need to e-mail with something important not about me. Please read it as it concerns an incident a while back with the board.

"If someone's blocked, they can still read what others post, since what's posted is public. If they try to get around being blocked by posting as someone else or having someone else post for them, I block the other posting name, too, and extend the duration of the block."

If you create a different (new) name, register again and then post while you are blocked, you are "posting as someone else."

>so posting a new name while blocked is considered posting

Yes, any posting is considered posting.

>I think I understand now.

I'm glad - that's a good thing. Questions are welcome, any time :-)
