Sorry this happened but I do not object.

Its does seem harsh. Particulary as I posted this, and it didn't get any attention or anything, and its in the same flavour as Quintal's post....

I agree that the block seems harsh. I took Quintal's remark to be somewhat of an ironic/humorous take on the efficacy of SSRIs in his experience, rather than a comment intended to discourage or put down others.

There are some threads and some interactions where people provoke each other and that was one of them.

As opposed to having some sympathy/empathy.

For me, I was provocative and I felt provoked.

I haven't found the thread and I'm not going looking, BUT
I as far as my expeiences 10 yrs or so with antiD's, tricyclic and SSRI's go, I wish there had been a Quintal around to warn me to think twice instead, I believed the docs, wasted over 10 years of my life and more, and am still and may always be trying to recover..
I've learnt the hard way, maybe if there had been someone around brave enough to state what I should have tat least given second thoughts to, instead of blindly following.. maybe quintal may have really helped someone here.. if someone needed to rethink or somethink?

anyway based on a statement be posted in alter, I'm inclined to believe he meant in with really good intentions.
It does take some felling for fellow people to go out on a limb , but I guess he could have stated it in a less provacative way.. maybe it may not have conveyed his meaning though?
then again, I'm in no fit ststae to even look at a provacative thread..so I will resist searching.
anyways thanks if well intentioned Quintal, as I took your comment on alter to be as well :-)

Hope this reads OK, I'm not up to posting these days.

Thank You All (nm)

Yes, that's what I thought it was too.

>I agree that the block seems harsh.

Yes indeed, considering I took particular care to use 'I statements' and clarify this was only a light-hearted rhetorical statement to encourage flmm to question the validity and civility of his own assertions:

>*Based on my experiences* I* could*say the opposite............

This may have been misinterpreted.

> I took particular care to use 'I statements'

Sorry, but I wouldn't consider the following an I-statement:

> > telling people who are in need of help that SSRIs treat depression, is reckless and not true!

And adding:

> > Based on my experiences I could say

IMO doesn't make it one, see:

> and clarify this was only a light-hearted rhetorical statement

And I don't see anything I'd consider such a clarification.

Sorry, but:

>Based on my experiences I could say telling people who are in need of help that SSRIs treat depression, is reckless and not true!

Is an 'I statement'. IMO adding

>IMO doesn't make it one, see

Doesn't make it not so.

And I don't see anything in here I'd consider such a clarification.

Maybe we're just solipsistic?
