please help...can i block a babblemailer????

Posted by alesta on January 9, 2007, at 10:47:34

Is there a mechanism in place currently to block an unwanted babblemailer?

I told a certain individual that i did not wish to babblemail with them, have not replied to any further babblemails, and they keep babblemailing me. They ask inappropriate intrusive questions, and it is becoming a nuisance. I think there should be some sort of capability set in place whereby we can "block" certain babblemailers...is there one now? i do not like being babblestalked. yes...i can just delete their babblemails...but i really would prefer to not have them appear in my inbox if possible.

Amy, who is getting more than a bit irritated...

No. Individuals posters can't be prevented from sending babblemail.

The solution - and it's not much of a solution, but that's what it is - would be to request that the individual Do Not Post to you. Dr Bob would prefer that we work differences out amongst ourselves, and make a DNP as a last resort. You'd have to do that as a post here on the boards. The DNP covers posts, babblemails, and chat communication. To quote from the privacy section of the FAQ,

"If you receive an abusive email or babblemail from someone here, please forward it directly to me (with all its headers, if you know how to do that). FWIW, I can then block any Psycho-Babble or associated Yahoo Group registrations using that email address."

Hope this helps, Alesta.

Well, i'd really rather not publically humiliate this person, but maybe this post will facilitate the desired outcome...

You could turn your babblemail off for awhile too, I would think. Just a suggestion.

I'm sorry that's happening. Hmm, since the babblemails aren't public, maybe the request doesn't need to be. How about if you send them a (civil) babblemail and check the "send a copy to yourself" box? Then if they babblemail you again, forward to me by email both your copy of your request and their babblemail.

Bob
