I hope you're at least saying you aren't that poster, not that that poster was never my friend...

That would just be too depressing to bear.

> you are wrong ... and insensitive.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please first see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks for trying to help, I know it can be frustrating. One alternative way of phrasing that would've been to talk about how you felt instead what she did, for example, to use an I-statement like:

> > > I feel hurt and confronted when I read your posts.

> Thats why I put the 'It just seems to ME'.
> I thot I was owning the statement or whatever. That this was how I felt about the situation.

You did own it, which I appreciate, but IMO, it's just not civil to express some feelings.

> And taken in the context of the entire post, its clear that I mean no harm, but was trying to warn Zaz, JUST AS BOB SAID on another thread here on Admin. I was trying to do the right thing......

Thanks for trying to do the right thing. It's hard to know how to help sometimes...

> I think BOTH you and I have been manipulated.....

OK, keeping the above in mind, could you please rephrase that?

Thanks,

Bob

> I think BOTH you and I have been manipulated.....

Ok.Hmmmm.
I will try.
1. I feel like I am being manipulated when I read your posts.
2. Dinah, I feel we are being manipulated when I read this thread.
3. Some of the stuff said on this thread to me causes me to feel I and others are being manipulated.
4. Some of the posts come across in such a way as cause me to think I am trying to be manipulated.

Are any of those OK? Is there one thats better than others? If so, why?
Thanks,
Muffled

Thanks for working on this. How about just "I feel manipulated" instead of "I feel like I am being manipulated"? I think that might be a better I-statement because it focuses more on you.

Bob

I DIDN'T say it to you. I said it to Dinah. I didn't think she would be upset and she said she wasn't.

I thought it was the Cone of Silence. At least someone told me it was.

Gosh, I hope it was a Cone. I"ve been in the Cone of Silence with that person. Of course, the Cone mostly meant you could say things inside the Cone and no one was supposed to repeat them to anyone outside the Cone.

Course there were many simultaneous Cones going on.

So maybe it was a different thing altogether.

I would like to know

1 if it is okay for anyone to say he feels manipulated at any time or if Dr Bob is saying that only for that poster in that situation.

2 if it is okay to say I feel attacked?

3 if it is okay to say I feel emotionally blackmailed?

4 if it is okay to say I feel scapegoated?

I thought I feel words should not imply someone else has done something. Doesn't I feel manipulated imply something negative about another? That someone else is a manipulator? ( I would feel extremely upset if someone said that to me!)

But if that is okay are all the other examples I gave also okay?

This is an administrative question and I would just like to know how the rules would apply in those instances.

Thank you.

Well, I said I wasn't offended.

I also said I was crying.

I'm not sure you can get not upset from that.

But I give up.

That was just a syntax correction to correct something that upon re-reading might be misinterpreted to mean something other than what I intended.
