Hey Flilp Flop. A request... Feel free to ignore I guess... But I'd just like to say...
It feels rather odd to see one person in Babblechat fairly constantly... But not really chatting in Babblechat. You go in because you see someone is logged in and then you discover that the person isn't there chatting at all. Just logged in. I've started ignoring the one person in chat indicator because I figure it is you and you are fairly much always logged in and I've never seen you chatting at all. Your being logged in all the time also means that fragments of previous conversations stay up after the posters who were participating in the discussion have left.
So I guess I have a request... Please could you log out of chat if you aren't chatting?
It is of course a free Babble chat place and so you can do whatever you want... I just wanted to say that I personally found it a little odd... Or disconcerting... Or something...
I guess you are on a all you can use internet package but just in case you aren't... You will probably save a little money too...
Or maybe... You are sitting in front of your computer enjoying reading what people take to be conversations between certain posters. I mean sure I know people know new parties can join at any point... But still... The notion of a chat lurker who doesn't participate particularly is a little disconcerting for me...
Bob? Can flip flop be timed out like other posters seem to be if they have a period of inactivity.Nothing personal Flip flop, I'd love to chat to you. Well... i'd love to chat with you. I've been chatting at you a fair bit. lol.

non-personal. in the sense that if it was Dinah or Auntiemel or Bob or Muffled or gg or you or anyone else... I would have made the same request.

It's everyone else that should stop logging out. Instead, when you want to leave, just type the command: /away
Your username will then be displayed like this: [away] username. That way people can see if you are present or not.
For a list of all the commands on Babblechat, type: /help

What makes you feel uncomfortable about someone who's lurking, anyway? It's not like it's a private conversation or anything...

I know it isn't a private conversation in the sense that people can join at any time.
It is a hard to say why I feel a little disconcerted...
When people are chatting then it can feel like a private conversation in the sense that you know who your audience is and you are talking to them.
I'm always happy to see someone arrive :-)
I adjust my conversation accordingly.
Maybe it is because I never know whether you are reading and not chatting or whether you are not reading.
How come you like to stay logged in rather than logging in and out?

Sorry about that. I'll remember to always log out from now on.

You don't have to be sorry...

It is up to you... I'm still curious about:
How come you like to stay logged in rather than logging in and out?
I hope I didn't make you feel bad or something... I could understand if you felt like you had company while you were trying to sleep or something like that...

The reason is simply that I'm waiting for someone else to show up.

I've been saying IRC would be the best for awhile now. It's smooth, you won't get kicked off like you do now, and you have more control. I just think it's the best way to go.

I missed you SO much.
Babble-Chat has been without glitches in this past week. I've been on once a day, sometimes with many people. Thanks for fixing it up.-ll

Hmm, there's extra stuff for the server to do at midnight, I wonder if this was related to that. Let's see if it happens again? Thanks for helping me out with this,

Hi Dr. Bob,
On Saturday night at midnight, there were a few strange moments. About 5ish people on babblechat, and the posts went from showing text to just having times, and then a few seconds later, they went back to their correct text. It was kind of freaky. I may have been the only one who noticed it. Oh, midnight CST. None of us got the dreaded boot though. Thanks for working on babblechat. Keeps us out of trouble, you know?-ll
