Well... I'm not sure if everyone is feeling supported here.
I became upset about something and behaved rashly and I hurt someone. And I think that hurt was exacerbated by the fact that no one (besides myself) admonished me for my uncivil statement.
I don't think it sets a good precedent for my post to go uncommented on. i don't want to link it here, because I am so ashamed, and it's so wrong. If someone said something like that about me, and then apologized the most profuse sincere apology possible, it still does not remove the original offense.
I'm not asking to be punished, Dr. Bob & deputies. I don't even care about what happens to me. But I do care about what happens to other babblers, present and future. I care a lot.
sincerely,
-llrrrpp

That's what you get for being a nice person.
No one thought you *really* meant what you had said - we all thought you were just trying to get blocked.
We didn't think you needed punishment.

When I was a kid and we fought in the back seat, my father could turn around and smack the (usually) right kid. All while going 75mph.
I had a teacher once. If anyone was talking while she was writing on the board, she could turn around and hurl a book - always hitting the right kid in the head.
It seems you used to do the cyber equivalent. Are you slowing down?

I suggest that this in not an accurate analogy. I believe posters may be sanctioned at random at first NOT because they violate more rules than anyone else just that they are RANDOMLY hit by the block. But the exponential increases have the effect of following the hit by the book with having the computer thrown at them next and then the desk and rendering them unconscious for a year.
I think the idea that some people "deserve" to be treated this way is in error.
I believe to suggest that Estella or Larry or Lou or ZenH or any other of the long term blockees deserved to be treated in this fashion is wrong.
But I am sure Bob appreciates the viewpoint of his deputies. That's probably why they're deputies. <grin> Why is it okay to insult male human beings (a post currently on the board) but preferring natural to supernatural reasoning is cause for a month long block?
I wanted to stand witness for those who've been hit by undeserved blocks.
I am addressing a post not any particular poster.

Maybe you should roll up the windows, lock the doors and head for the closest garage.

I hope no one ever throws a chair at a child you love Bobby. I hope it didn't hurt you to witness violence against children who may have been terrorized by what was happening in that classroom. I hope if you ever see someone who is menacing or attacking a child you will step forward and try to stop it. I hope to God I will too and that I will speak up and say it is wrong even if I am ridiculed for doing so.
It's not okay to hit children.
It's not okay to throw things at children.
It's not okay to humiliate children in front of others.
And I am not ashamed for speaking up and saying so.

I'm sorry you're feeling triggered by this topic here on Admin. I can see how this board might not be one where someone might expect to run into this topic.
I notice that you are posting about it. What other ways are you finding useful in managing your reactions to this? What works for you in dealing with distress from being triggered? Please share if/when you feel up to it. Although now that I think about it, perhaps my question is better suited for the Psychology board?
Take care,
gg

That may be flip, but I think my personal answer to your question is, "not so's you'd notice..."
Then again, my reaction to it is mostly not to reply to those posts that trigger me, and limit my reading on boards that often trigger me, and limit my reading of posts by posters who frequently trigger me. I'm not quite sure whether that constitutes a healthy response, or avoidance.
Whichever it is, it's working pretty well for me right now.
And I'm glad you're back. Maybe now would be a good time to start a game of "I Spy?" Or singing "99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall?"

I would prefer to stay on topic here.
I am raising administrative issues.
I am asking for fairness in the way blocks and pbcs are handed out.
I am standing witness for people who have no voices here. (And no doubt I will soon be one of them tho I have tried very hard to follow the sometimes confusing rules)
I am standing up for children who have been abused by adults . I am suggesting that teachers who throw books or chairs at children should NOT be put on baseball teams they should be put in jail. I think Psychobabble should not tolerate making light of child abuse. How do you stand on that issue?
I do not feel comfortable discussing any off board methods of coping on the Psych board or anywhere else. I have pretty much withdrawn from the rest of the board until these administrative issues are addressed. I think that is a very healthy thing to do.
Thanks for your concern

Do you think I made that up? I didn't---her name was Mrs. Sinclair. would it be better if I posted how we(children) abused her? Something had to set her off. sorry if the subject triggered you or brought up issues you may have. I think that Auntie Mel and I grew up in a different era than you and perhaps today's kids look at things in a different light. To me, those were some the most memorable times I had and, coming from a totally different angle, were humorous to a kid my age.

I agree, child abuse shouldn't be make light of. But I'm going to accept that post.

I went to a boy's boarding school where some of the masters, as we called them, would routinely feel up the boys and then would leave under a cloud. This was no big deal, and sometimes the boys would manufacture evidence against some awful sadist and he would get the chop on a pretext of paedophilia. Noone worried too much about that (we had other things to worry about, and still do), just the awful embarrassment of it happening. We shouldn't be too precious about all this.......things aren't always so rosy in the garden.

The worst thing was always the kind of thing that is hardest to encode as a rule. Noone worried about being caned. It was a badge of honour, unpleasant of course. What *was* a problem was what can be a problem anywhere........insensitivity, psychological cruelty, things you more or less can't easily see or describe, as can happen here. All we can do is try to be nice, I spose.
