Deleted posts

I replied to someone named TsenChi yesterday (I think) and had my post deleted. It's not that big a deal to me because I knew the poster was being uncivil but I said some things that were meaningful to me at the time. So what's the deal with deletions? It doesn't appear that the whole thread was deleted, this poster did not originate the thread. So, if I was not uncivil why was my response deleted, and why wasn't I afforded the courtesy of some sort of explanation?

My guess is because posts are set up in a tree format, so when that one post was deleted, every post underneath (i.e. replied to) automatically got deleted. I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with your post. I read the thread and it was pretty nasty. I'm glad it was deleted.

Hi, Toph.

My guess is that TsenChi was a blocked poster posting. When that happens, Dr. Bob and/or his deputies will delete the original post as well as any replies (or associated posts?).

At least this is what I've seen in the past.

Perhaps, though an explanation from the deleter via Babblemail would have been a civil way of handling the removal of my post.

That would definitely be ideal. I actually think that should be a deputy rule. If a person's post is deleted, they should be notified that it has happened and why. It's not like this happens THAT often.

I agree, that would've been ideal. But I'm glad you were able to find out this way, too.
