I think PsychoBabble should be on the News

Posted by rjlockhart98 on October 3, 2005, at 21:29:02

It needs to marketed.

Like on CNN, or Fox News about a site that discusses medications. We would get ALOT OF people on the psychobabble server, i dont know if it could handle it.

I need to start putting up signs!

given you want to see more marketing, here's a riddle that might entertain and help:

if you thought that the number 23 was all you needed to worry about, you forgot about 22 and 36.they are important.

what is the best plan for marketing if on one hand you have 23 and on the other, i have 22 and 36?

it's an optimization problem.

think about it.

all the best, chemist

Hey chemist have you ever heard of every number equalling nine? I invented it when I was in the third grade. I'm being serious. I was told that there is such a theory. Have you ever heard of it? You're answer just brought it to mind. I used to add numbers in my head and realized that in the end they all equal 9. Wierd but true I think. Is there a name for this except OCD? hello there, phillipa...rather rude of you in light of the circumstances, i opine...ever hear of any person stupid enough to believe that an experienced UNIX hack would detaill any part of his system in email communications with an anonymous person who who requests it? well, a few people think so. see you in court.

of course...however, the management needs to know that there is a for-real case coming its way thanks to individuals who have exploited the very lax security policies here. the FCC and lawyers who cannot lose given the electronic trail convinced me a while back that if one cannot learn from their mistakes, they will get the message when they have to explain why they are allowing people to publicly post the private content of email that has been intercepted - repeatedly.

the dead links, ease of insertion of javascript into these here reply boxes, and little to no interest in checking what's in syslog are ofically not my liability.

and i expect some closure about a verbatim reprint (one of many) of an email exchanged between you and me, now starring as the Tums + Adderall thread on the meds board - including a lot of attention paid to a deliberate error.

all the best, and yeah, the lawyers really will be in touch about this one.

all the best, c

hello there, chemist here...it has been noted that my calling your post ``rude'' is itself not very nice. i concur.

what i meant was ``patronizing'' and ``eerily similar to email correspondence i have been having with a co-worker about perfoming certain computations using a finite field in none other than modulo 9'' and finally ``really strange that i count out cash registers that way, and at my most recent little tangent of work, that's exactly how i showed the boss that one of his employees had stolen almost $8,000 from the business. the employee got fired, and i have had continual email disruptions and invasions of privacy and personal information thinly-cloaked being posted on PB ever since. weird. hence, you are looking really good for an adverse witness for the plaintiff.''

is that civil? i hope so...just so we are clear: i feel your comments are ``patronizing'' in re: the implication that i am OCD and can perform at a third-grade level; i feel that email with attachements containing work in fields mostly (mod 9) is ``a really strange coincidence'' in light of your statement; and i feel that the comments about every number being equal to nine - and keeping track of them in your head - is ``really weird'' because i briefly was employed in a capacity where i was working a cash register, and a guy everybody loved turned out to be a liar and a thief. i am the person who ratted on him, and he lost his job because of me. that's when content from my email started showing up here on PB.

just wanted to make everything really clear. i really, really hope you are not hurt by my comment about the ``rude'' remark, and that the more thoughtful and accurate ones explained above are at the very least intriguing to you and so many others.

all the best, your good pal, chemist

Chemist, I really haven't a clue what you're talking about. And in my post it was a question to you. I wondered if this made me not you Ocd. I have no idea if you have any diagnosis or not. But I know how smart you are and if there indeed was such a theory I just wanted to know if there was. If you misunderstood this I'm terribly sorry. Fondly, Phillipa

hello there...i have no doubt that what you say is true. i certainly did misunderstand, and reacted inappropriately. that is because i was using a binary (pre-compiled) version of Mozilla, 1.7.6. the effect goes away completely if i do a native installation of any version of Mozilla higher than 1.7.6. the same effect has been confirmed to be true by third parties who have actually printed out posts from this site over time and simply compared the two. interestingly, they are very different in certain cases. go figure...if you didn't know any better, you might be inclined to see very prominent positive affect - and schizophrenia - rearing its head. turns out to be related to some computer problems....that's what the voices i hear from the computer sciences department at UT-Austin saying in my head, at least. weird......yours, c

hello there dr. bob...you might find this a bit bizarre...as only 5 minutes ago did i understand what the title of a thread between you and gardnergirl meant...it was along the lines of ``Is this email a fluke?''...

i just found out less than a half an hour ago that i almost killed myself last week.

am i correct that the email has been monitored by you - at least - and that many people have, on purpose, actually spent time and effort to make my condition worse?

please tell me i am mistaken....the numbers 22, 23, and 36 are important on this one...how dare you.....do you have any idea what has happened?

when - why? how? - you have encouraged this? i am beyond understanding this ....c

chemist,
Take a deep breath. I am forwarding you the email I sent to Dr. Bob which I later said in the thread to ignore so you can see the contents. I suppose I could have sent Dr. Bob another email saying to disregard the first one (about phenomenon or fluke), but it seemed he would see a message on the board faster than an email.

Sorry to cause confusion.
