Babblemail / email query

Posted by sal0805 on September 24, 2005, at 12:03:05

Are babblemail's received, and can they be sent, via a yahoo email address?

Sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

Yes, yahoo email is no problem, I do it all the time. Of course, you must reply using Babblemail, not your email program. The incoming Babblemail message tells you that - there's always a link to click on to take you back into PB's Babblemail to reply.

Your Babblemail is turned off, though. (You probably know that.)

If you have more questions, please post them - I like to (try to) help :-)

(PS - welcome back - I know we don't know one another, but I used to read many of your posts, and I know you are dearly loved here. )

Thank you so much 10derHeart. I remember you, as well as many of your posts. Thank you for your kind words.

I thought that I had my babblemail turned on. I have had way too much brain freeze lately but know that I 'checked' the babblemail when I re-registered. What have I done wrong?

Hmmm...if you did click on the radio button, during registration, that says Babblemail - ON - it should be on. But, your name is not showing up in blue.

The only way is to go through and reregister again (you won't be changing anything else) and make sure you do click the "ON" button next to the blue word 'Babblemail'

here's a link back to that screen

https://dr-bob.securesites.com/cgi-bin/pb/signup.pl

It should work...frustrating sometimes, I know :-)

I actually did what you suggested just after your first reply post - and babblemail was still 'on'. Nevertheless, I updated my registration anyway.

I will not be on babble all that often. (This weekend is an exception), so I really would like to receive babblemails.

Any more suggestions?

Sabrina

Uh-uh.

That's how you turn it on, soooo... if it refuses to work, must be a technical glitch for Dr. Bob to fix.

Don't know if our deputies have the ability...?

You can email him (link at bottom on every page) and/or wait patiently. I'm sure someone will get this figured out soon....

Strange and annoying technology! ;-)

Ive noticed that it takes awhile for the name to turn blue, maybe the session has to be archived? But all that you have to do to see if it is actually on is click on anyones name to get into babble and delete the name that is there and type in your name or whoevers name you are trying to send one to. It should work. Ill test it for you.

That's so weird.

I've been like that all night, too. Just see what I did to CrazyT's perfectly innocent crayon post on Social...and I've been so tempted elsewhere....double meanings to things are just tempting me like crazy...hmmm...wonder what's up with us?

I should have thought of that.

I only kept seeing her name wasn't blue, even after leaving Babble and returning...still isn't showing blue now....so others won't know they can B-mail her....weird how it takes so long..?

You are quite awesomely bright and helpful, as always....:-)

I received the test babblemails - thank you very much.

Now I just need my turned on name to turn blue.

Thanks again

Gee thanks :-).
I agree it is slow! I think it has to do with the arciving system. Im guessing that if her name started out with babble mail turned off it wont 'turn on' (lol) until her initial old posts leave (archive).
But I wonder if maybe she went to a board she hasnt been to yet if it would be blue there?? since it would be the first time. In the beginning for me I wasnt blue on students but I was everywhere else.
Maybe Bob could put a note about this in his FAQ's since it has come up a few times recently.

huh...and all this time I considered archiving just a routine, automated thing of little importance...NOW you tell me it probably turns posters on (and blue...but that sounds yucky)!

well, then, perhaps I'll just have to sit in front of this computer all night, hoping for an archive...! woo-hoo..! might be the most exciting thing that's happened in ages...;-)

KEEPIN' IT ADMIN....Sabrina's name was not blue over on Writing when she first posted, so you're probably correct...

Is there a babblemail problem?

I mailed someone and 3 days later he wrote back and said - why don't you write to me anymore? So I did, via babblemail again. And a few days later he writes again asking me why I don't write, am I OK, etc.

Is there a problem? Or is he just a silly gooberhead who can't figure out how to read his mail?? Or could one or both of us be losing our minds?

Maybe there's a problem with the email address he used to register here?

Could they be going into his junk / spam mail fodler automatically?

I know mine is rather temperemental, and about 75% of babble mails seem to go straight into my spam folder, even though I keep telling it not to!!
