Can you call people this?

Posted by Nickengland on September 11, 2005, at 11:12:48

I noticed wilyee has been blocked.

I was curious how this was posted on social and didn't recieve a warning or block.

The subject title reads...

*I will hug you, you motherfuc*er! » linkadge*

You can call people a motherfucker and not get warned or blocked, but when someone speaks up to what the person is saying, they get blocked? Okay maybe they couldn't contain themselves to be what could be considered *civil*

But calling calling someone a motherfucker is?

Kind regards

Nick

Those blocks were not real blocks. They were made by an imposter. Double check the name.

> You can call people a motherf*cker and not get warned or blocked, but when someone speaks up to what the person is saying, they get blocked?

Sorry, Nick. But I need to ask you to please refrain from bypassing automatic asterisking to use language that could offend others, even if you are quoting someone else.

And incidentally, there was a warning issued both publicly and privately after the post you refer to was posted. Responses to posts in question must be civil. As Dr. Bob says, two wrongs do not make a right.

Thanks,
gg acting as deputy

Hi AuntieMel,

Yes, that's correct. Although there were a series of posts by someone named gardenegirl which purpoted to block others. All but one of these posts were removed, and that is what Auntie Mel was referring to.

Hi Gardenergirl,

Sorry when I posted that message I thought when I spelt the word, it would automatically use the asterisking * within the word?

I didn't know I had to manually insert it myself?

Yes I agree, two wrongs don't make a right.

Kind regards

Thanks Nick. I wonder if the word "mother" before the next part of the word is what threw off the automated asterisking?

Hi Gardenergirl,

No worries :-)

I don't really want to play around with the words too much lol but yes I think you're right the word 'mother' is what probably caught out automated asterisking checker..

Kind regards

Can you imagine the confusion and disarray resulting from a multitude of posts blocking various random posters using standard deputy blocking language from a poster named gardenegirl?

What would you have the deputies do?

They cld. at least spell the name rt...lol » Dinah

Honestly i think most babblers know if they have done something to be blocked. i had my notification on and when i ck'ed my emails, i saw myself w/ all the others *blocked* and i just shook my head. it seems the posts are deleted though. i'm not even gonna worry myself w/ so much going on but it is a shame.

I was shocked

that willyee got blocked also but after reading all the posts, he was being set up and let his emotions get the best of him....i too was offended by the continuous language but when i realized it was going to continue, i ignored the posts.

I don't know... I guess people would figure out that they hadn't been blocked when they realised they were still able to post.

Or there could have been a message posted afterwards pointing out that the poster issuing blocks is not a deputy.

I don't suppose it matters...
I'm just a little touchy on the issue of post deletion...

What's been going on? I was away and trying to post on a laptop without much success. But it looks very confusing to me right now. So you got blocked? I scrolled down pbabble and saw a lot of blocks but now I'm really confused. And I even saw where I had kept the title of one of the offensive posts when posting my own response. Sorry about that. I was shocked! Fondly, Phillipa

Sorry, it wasn't set up to catch that one. But it is now!
