Oh, and now that I briefly just skimmed the FAQ this quote is at the top of the page from Dr. Bob.
"Different points of view are fine, and in fact encouraged, but your freedom of speech is limited here."

Mark H. filling in for Dr. Bob here: I realize this can be challenging, but please do not use language that could lead others to feel accused or put down, even when responding to the original poster's incivility.
Questions or follow-up to this post should be posted to the Admin board.
Many thanks,

Mark H. filling in for Dr. Bob here:
Your query as to why you were blocked for a week should be directed to the Admin board, as Dr. Bob likes to keep this forum focused on medication issues.
Also, I agree with most of the comments that others have mentioned above. If you wish to participate here, you need to be consistently respectful and considerate of others.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Mark H.

Friends,
This thread about zuzu's post brings up to me something that I have wanted to write about here. I think that the goals here of support and education have the very great potential for this forum to be a beacon of light to those seeking to be rescued from the storms that they find themselves here.
But does someone finding the light have to conform to a standard of writing to be rescued?
I have a suggestion that IMO could have the potential to benifit the community. Let us suppose that we have another post like zuzu's. I suggest that the post when it is first seen, be alerted by anyone to be deleted. Then the post will be forwarded to someone here that takes the position of someone that revises it to be acceptable in relation to the guidlines of the forum, like an editor of a newspaper. Then the post in placed back on the board and there is no blocking or even a mention that what was written was not acceptable in relation to the guidlines of the forum.
I think that if this is implemented here, that it could be good for the community. I think that I have seen a multitude of very talented people here that could take zuzu's post and revise it to be acceptable here by either deleting parts that can not be revised , or revising parts that could.

Friends,
In revising zuzu's post, which I think could be very challenging, let us look at one example such as ,[...Sometimes I think this board is full of (expletives)....].
Now I have to wonder why zuzu referred to posters here in that manner. Could there be something here to be a clue to offer support for zuzu? So if I was the person editing the post, I would think about changeing that part to,[...Sometimes I think that It could be good for me if I could spend some more time here to get a better understanding about the posters here and try to understand their point of view...].

Lou - In this case, since zuzu has demonstrated his ability to write in a civil manner since his block, he likely had this ability prior to his block as well. So, he either chose not to be civil, felt he was not able to be civil due to his mood, OR perhaps, he was unaware of the rules of civility here because he never read the FAQ.
In none of those cases do I see the needs for an editor. If the person clearly in UNABLE to write civilly and need it demonstrated to them, then I would see that an editor/mentor would be helpful. That work could be done informally, perhaps via babblemail by a volunteer.

TE,
You wrote,[...a {mentor}...].
That is something that I think could be a great thing to have here. Perhaps instaed of blocking someone here, a mentor could be available to edit their posts for acceptability. Also, it could be made a requirerment in stead of blocking that the poster use a mentor for, lets say, a week.

Ironically, when someone writes a post such as yours, and then criticizes medication, I find it to be a better advertisement *for* the use of medication, not against it.

Some people just call an ace an ace, and a spade a spade. Others don't posess the talent to mentor a poster. Sometimes that is the way a person choses to express himself, as a person who gets angry at a car that cuts in front of him and yells an obsenity. I think the rules work, and it sometimes gives a person time to "regroup" and that means a timeout. Fondly, Phillipa

C. No one here could mentor the poster in question.
D. mentoring should not be a part of a mental-health community.
E. All of the above
F.A combination of the above
G. None of the above
H. something else.

Gabbi-x-2,
In what yopu wrote above, could you clarify if you are meaning any of the following?
A. Zuzu needs psychotropic drugs because he/she criticized medication.
B. Zuzu's post proves that taking medication is always the right thing to do.
C. No one should ever consider an alternative to medication.
D. People that take medication are better writers here than those that criticize taking medication.
E. None of the above

is that our posts aren't deleted or otherwise edited.
I don't like other people messing with my posts. Even redirects feel strange - though I guess the post is redirected in its entirety.
I would prefer to face consequences of what I said then to have what I said deleted or otherwise mangled into something that someone else would have preferred me to say.
I hope that doesn't change about Babble.
In fact... I dare say I would leave over that...

I quite agree - I'd rather add post after post to get a page to archive rather than have something questionable removed.
Otherwise, it's like re-writing history, IMO.
