Dinah,
I saw your name on the list of financial supporters of Dr. Bob's. Is that you? How nice of you to help him out. What kind of perks come with that?

From your posting name I can only guess that you feel you have been 'wronged' or dealt with unfairly at this site. I am sorry that you are hurting. I think, though, that by dealing with your hurt by implying that there is some sort of 'conspiracy' here is more likely to result in people turning against you rather than sympathising with your hurt.
> What kind of perks come with that?
If that was posted to me I would feel very hurt indeed. Do you think that your comment was fair?
What I have noticed of Dinah is that she has been here for quite a while and I have always found every post of hers that I have read to be supportive and well intentioned. I have never seen her post anything antagonistic or make a judgement that was ill intentioned or lashing out. I would think that that may have more to do with any decision to make her a moderator than any financial contribution she may offer.
I am sorry you are hurting but there are more or less appropriate ways of expressing that.

You are most welcome Dinah.
Take deep breaths...
Don't let it get to you.
I think you may be about to find out just how many supporters you do have
:-)
You take care.

It didn't get to me. By deputy standards this was a walk in the park. :)
Besides, I gave like $100 or so to Dr. Bob a good while back. I don't even think he's accepting donations now. Given the amount he undoubtedly spends on this site, I seriously doubt that any amount I could put together could buy any influence. :) I just thought of the huge amount of benefit I got from this site, and the amount I paid my therapist, and thought it was only right to pay something - even if it was nowhere near commensurate to the value I get from being with you guys.
Thanks Dr. Bob for going to the trouble you do to keep the site up and running.

I think somebody missed her nap today.
Dinah - I'm quite sure that Bob used that $100 to buy the big leather book he tracks our blocks in, so it was very good investment! ;-)

Indeed she does! And our "wronged" wrote that Dinah had her blocked because she succeeded in making *Dinah* look bad, and she wasn't joking either.

Hey, a donation is a donation - you didn't buy shares :-)
It is a kind and thoughtful thing to have done. I didn't realise for quite some time that Dr. B funds this personally. I thought he would have got a research grant or something. Actually, I am still a little puzzled as to why he can't / doesn't try to get a research grant to fund the site. But maybe this has been thought before...
Anyways, I too am glad this site is here.
And I am glad that some people are in a position to help out with $ to try and ensure that this site continues to be here.Maybe someone wants to buy a spellcheck???
I'd pay if I could.
But I am glad it is not a requirement because I can't.
Even internet access can be an issue for me.

Ah, once you guys have hauled my *ss through college then maybe I'll have some $ for a change. Nobody ever went into philosophy to try to be rich, but one day when I am comfortable I will happily return the favour best I can :-)
What goes around comes around.

What kind of perks come with that?hello there, chemist here...pardon my French - and jumping in to the middle of a thread - but you appear to be suffering from adult-onset oral encopresis: Does it make sense that Dinah - overworked, overqualified, and overly kind - would pay Dr. Hsiung for the honor of (no pun intended) being burdened with duties such as keeping up with posters such as yourself?.....i would wish you all the best yet my new year's resolution is to try my best to tell the truth.....chemist

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.
Thanks,
Bob

> Good to see you again.hi dinah, i have followed your recent accounts of things happening in your life - especially near the christmas holiday - and (for once, perhaps?) am at a loss for words...your travails as deputy on PB exhibited during my short tenure - with frequent vacations, lest we forget - are sisyphean, to say the least....and i do recall at least one incident that you facilitated - or was it juggled? - many a communique between concerned parties in order to keep an eye upon a potentially dangerous situation. you have my utmost respect, although that and two bits will get you a cup of coffee, i suspect....in any event, however you do what you do and manage to pay for the honor is something i will leave to the philosophers and altruists....yours, tjm

hello there all...the issue of funding a site with traffic such as this begs the question (and please, i do not mean to offend, so if i am stepping on toes, please do let me know): Why is there not a yearly production of a calendar featuring PB folks in all their splendor? the new york city fire department does, if i recall, raise a tidy sum with each month featuring one of mew york's finest, usually clad only in hip-waders and an axe; similarly, there are the (more varied???) items featuring women in settings tropical, office, and other; and gender preference need not be an issue.
i volunteer, and suggest that the consumer decide: one could request that May flowers are welcomed with a brilliant photo montage of chemist being smacked in the mouth by persons of all persuasions; or perhaps being led off in restraints....either way, a winner!
what do you think? (no nudity, tofu :))

Or what about a book - maybe "Online (In)Sanity" where many of us tell our stories of suffering and healing. Using anonymous posting names, of course.

I was thinking more of a collection of essays. A chapter is a lot to ask of any of us.
It could even contain poetry, drawings, etc.
