The last time we talked, you said that posters would have the option of turning the auto-censor feature off, but they would receive no warnings before getting a spanking. I said I could live with that, and hadn't f*cked up in half a year of posting poems. If I will no longer have the option of self-censoring by deleting specific letters of my own choosing so that the meaning or rhythm of a poem's line is not obscured, I've written my last poem on PB. How about it, Dr. Bob? Are you reneging on your earlier statement, or will I be permitted to walk the tightrope on Writing without your censorial net? I'm game if you'll allow it. It seems to me that the net of rules being drawn around posters just becomes increasingly stifling with every passing month. What is up with you? Did you sell this site to Disney or something? Maybe it will be optional, like a grammer check?
So we could choose to turn it off and live with the consequences...

Well, I'm hope so, Alex. As I said to Dr. Bob, I'm more than willing to swing on the high wire when I write a poem with nothing but jagged blocks beneath me. I really have to draw the line at what I perceive as Bob's increasing neo-Puritanism somewhere, and that somewhere is my creative writing here. If you want to drive me off Babble once and for all, Dr. B, just auto-censor one word in one line of one of my poems once, and I guarantee that will be the last bloody straw. Atticus

Aw Atticus, I do understand where you are coming from. I don't really write anymore, but I understand.

I was kind of visualising an optional button - 'civility check' or maybe 'language check' (incase peoples thought it did semantics too).

I would have suggested it but I thought it would have been even harder to implement than a spell check (option). It isn't that it is hard it is that you have to buy one - right? Couldn't you try to get one donated?

Jesus wept. Every time I turn around, what I perceive as the condescending paternalism of this site's administrator just seems to get more and more out of control. Atticus

Hello Atticus. How have you been? How is your holiday going? I am having an enforced one because I can't get into my building...

The duckies are still around.
Even got some new ones.
Don't like them as much as the old ones, though.

I think I have just been going around upsetting peoples today... I guess that means I must be bored. I hate boredom. It tends to end in pain (for me). Ah well, can't be helped

Be well :-)

I just find the explanation that Dr. Bob is instituting something he and I discussed weeks ago to be more likely than the idea that this site has been hacked and this auto-censor idea is a prank by a Dr. Bob imitator. Atticus

Atty you may be right and most likely are but it's odd he hasn't replied to anything and was just on the site..and much more but seems odd...I just do not get what the point is of having an auto censor if one cannot swear..its gonna get all the * and stuff anyhow so???

If people are going to walk tightropes, isn't it better to have a net?

> What is up with you? Did you sell this site to Disney or something?

Are they interested? :-)

Christ only knows. Bob moves in mysterious ways. Anyway, I've said my piece. The person I really want to hear from is the Big Kahuna himself. Honestly, we could go in circles on this all night until he checks in with an explanatory post.

Poetry and other forms of creativity work best when there is no net. I want no net. I want no automatic asterisking. Can I have that personal option or not? I just want a simple answer: yes or no? I don't plan on writing poems about f*cking "Little Nemo" in the future. I've never been PBCed for language in six bloody months. Cut to the chase already, Bob. Atticus

OK, sweetheart. I've turned your bloody auto-censor off. Better to walk the tightrope without a net than to hand you my b*lls in a paper bag and trot off happily neutered.
And yes, Pixie Bob, now that you mention it, Disney IS interested. The execs saw that adorable little picture of you wearing green tights and a pink nappy, and they just swooned over those darling little pink wings of yours. They want you to play Tinkerbell's love interest in an upcoming picture. Good luck! I think you've got just the right perky attitude. ;) Atticus

And blocking is mine...

Don't get blocked over this Atticus

Well, the Tinkerbell quote is really the third in a series of exhanges between Dr. Bob and myself, and actually, if you just read it straight, it's quite complimentary, I think. In my first post about the auto-censor, I asked Bob, rhetorically really, "What's up with you, anyway? Are you planning to sell this site to Disney?"
In his reply, he said "Why? Are they interested?"
And my final response was the facetious one about his new "pixie" look and Disney's interest in casting him as Tinkerbell's love interest in an upcoming film. Far as I can tell, I didn't break any of the PB commandments, but you're right about punishments on this site. As Fats Waller used to say after performing a ribald song, "One never knows, do one?" ;) Atticus
