Question about Newbies board

Posted by shadows721 on May 17, 2004, at 23:32:43

I tried to reply to Ruru question about complex ptsd and it said the board is restricted. Is that true? I hope I didn't do something wrong.

You didn't do anything wrong. But it is in fact restricted, to newbies and "official greeters". Would you like to be an official greeter?

Oh, how interesting. How does one enter Official Greeter Land? I missed the whole newbie board discussion (apparently) tho' I think it's a good idea. I will visit Newbie Land, and try to figure out who the Official Greeters are. Do they get a badge or anything?

Well, then, mayn't I enter, dear Sir? Tho' I confess beforehand, I post less than usual these days (as compared to a few years ago).

Do I qualify? I know if I do go to Newbies, I'd be able to address some of the questions that arise.

Do I pass? May I humbly ask, and receive, admittance to Newbie land?

Thanks (whatever your determination may be!)

If we're official or not (other than trying to post)? Do you send out a notification? Or a badge?

I'm very big on badges and certificates......:)

What is involved in being a greeter? For example, do I need to post regularly? I am a bit sporactic in posting. I may not qualify for such a position.

Oh, by the way, I used the double quotes feature. It worked nicely in a post:-)

Consider yourself notified, welcome, and thanks for volunteering!

Bob

PS: I'm planning on revising the introduction to the board to include a link to the list, but I've been swamped lately...

It just involves greeting people. IMO, the bottom line is for the greeters to check regularly enough so that newbies who post get some sort of response.

Thanks!

Hi,
I have been to Newbies a few times now, and people seem to be quite well taken care of over there. (Lots of volunteers apparently.)

I hope there isn't a penalty for asking admittance to Greeter Land, and then not posting all that much!

There actually aren't many greeters, but they're great! :-)

Nope, the idea here is not to pressure people. :-)

Well, being depressed, etc. and old, to boot, I appreciate that there is no pressure!

Who knows...maybe I'll be able to relate to an oldie who needs us! I'll keep checking, and thanks for admittance.

Shar
