Dr Bob -- can you explain Guest Experts a little?

Posted by Racer on February 22, 2004, at 17:25:57

I really think that's a great idea, and I hope it works well enough to be sustainable. Good thinking on your part, and thank you very much for putting the energy into making it happen. My fingers are crossed that it continues.

Now for my question about it: will the Guest Expert be answering questions on any sort of schedule, or randomly? I'm assuming, of course, that the GE will be answering on the boards, is that safe to assume? Will you be archiving the questions and responses in a separate area of your site as well as in the general archives? (I think that would be great, personally, to be able to check just the post/response on a separate page for reference in the future. If that's something you'd like to do, I'll offer to help you write a script to make it happen more automagically.)

Thanks!

Chuckle. You mean you've missed the guest experts of the past? There was some real excitement there sometimes. So much so that I'm surprised Dr. Bob can get anyone to agree to come. :) I wonder if he actually lets them read the board anymore, or just passes on questions and answers.

They were just part of the regular posts and part of the regular archives. I think there was one on Psychological? But I'm not sure he actually answered any questions. And several on the Medication Board.

I think Dr. Bob has told us we can try to find our own guest experts as well (after clearing it with him first). I know I've searched for a way to contact Deborah Lott, since her book "In Session" is generally so useful in questions of transference.

requests for guests?

Do ya think that Marsha Linehan might like to put in a guest appearance, since DBT seems to come up so often and all... That would be terrific.

It's been pretty random so far, but if someone were willing to do it regularly, I think that would great!

Yes, on the boards. That's a good idea, having a separate area of links. Like the areas for general links and books that are under construction right now:

Sure, the more automagic around here, the better! :-)
