I thought of a few things that may make people feel a bit more safe, which could maybe eliminate duo handles by the same poster. One is, could you find some way to indicate in a 'mini profile' when exactly a person has registerd, and their total number of posts. This is a good way to prevent "identity theft" as well, and get rid of those trying to get around by posting as two or more different handles.
Plus, people can feel both safe and more with a consistent "mini profile". Also seeing total number of posts gives people crdibility.
I don't know if your current BBS system can handle these things, but would you be up for changes in this area? Please let me know...and also, others please comment.
Best,
Jay

I like the idea. But how does it stop people posting under two different handles...?

Well, I post all the time, but does that mean I'm "credible." I don't know if I would feel comfortable knowing how many times I've posted here. When I'm in a "cycle", as they call it I post quite frequently. Let me think where I was going with this. '
By knowing when a person first began posting and how often they post, doesn't that just sort of seperate the "Newbies" from the "Old-Timers"?? I mean, isn't it just an easy way for someome to find out who is new here and who has been here a while? Know what I'm throwing at you? Would a person be more hesitant to interact with someone because they are newer, than if they just didn't know when that person began posting?
Just thinking out loud...

1. I agree with lookdownfish, how would that keep people from posting under multiple names?
2. It might still be a good idea, and it's come up before, but there are always concerns like Karen's.
3. People can already just search for posting names to find out when others started posting and how often they've posted.

Profiles are already on my to-do list, and came up again just recently:

Thanks for the ideas!
