I was thinking about the models and orientations used in psychology (i.e. cognitive, behavioral, etc.), and which ones I like the best. My therapist is cognitive, and my pdoc is biological and psychodynamic. Now, if it's not getting too personal, and if you don't mind answering, I'm wondering which one(s) you subscribe to.

I meant subscribe as in which type of therapy he adheres to. Which ones he likes or uses. Is that more clear?

My guess is that Dr. Bob's a "just the meds, ma'am" pdoc like my own. Don't know why. Just a guess.

I definitely think that he's a biological type like that, but I think he might be sociocultural too. I say that because he did set up this Babble site, which involves a lot of interaction. Just a guess. :)

Elle, I knew what you meant. Just a joke with no disrespect intended.
DrBob rarely will get into what he's about or what methods he uses. If he did, it would put the focus on him.
He's a smart guy and established this place so we could help one another.Phil

I didn't feel disrespected, but thank you for clarifying. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Perhaps I should email the question instead. Then, only I will know, and no focus is put on him in regard to the board. Although, I would still like to hear what he has to say.

I agree, if he was not smart, I doubt he'd have a medical degree! :)

Yeah, that one's fooled a lot of us! But, remember, somebody always graduates last in their class. Or, Daddy gets them into Johns Hopkins, or their MD is from Scolbernia (a place I made up) where they have a tanning requirement.Of course I'm not referring to DrBob here, but just the idea that doctors are smart; I think it's much better to trust one's own judgement about that.

Right, I don't mean to be unresponsive, but I think I'd like to keep it administrative here. Thanks,
Bob

I don't see why it would shift the focus terribly to just say what orientation you are - no more than the focus shifts when a new photo goes up at any rate.
Not sure about how staying aloof is supposed to help with transference either, I thought that remaining aloof would more likely facilitate transference... (for example)... in the absense of data, let us speculate...
Dr-Bob is a p-doc, therefore my money is on something or other psycho-dynamic, probably with a respect for psycho-analysis (as the guests orientation would seem to indicate). My crystal ball also tells me that he is not an expert on Jung...
Perhaps this will be redirected???

Yeah alright, I think I get it. Some of us (well me really) get a bit insecure regarding which treatment approach is best / most suitable. It is good that this board doesn't endorse any one approach over others, and we can all talk despite differences and give a variety of different perspectives etc etc. Sorry about the above post.
This is the end of the thread.
