the good doctor..

dr bob..
i see that you have yet to address the mass confusion and hurt..
i feel that is the correct route to take..
we are all adults here(even though we spell differently)
i think its best if we never know if it is true..
or if we were"played"
if the "one" comes back and is as supportive as before...give her the advice to not "come clean".
it takes many errors for some of us to get it right

I don't mind if he doesn't share what he learns about this, particularly if he's honest about not sharing it.

But if I ever find out he's colluded with one poster to deceive the many again, or changed the playing field for one only, I'd have to rethink my participation here. So I'd rather he didn't advise anyone to do anything but follow the rules. In other words disclose that the poster had once posted under another name, not necessarily disclosing the prior name.

Just my own drone like, rule following, bourgeois two cents.

Tend to agree with JYL on this one. I don't think it would be a good idea for Krissy to admit to this again, IF it is a hoax she has pulled. If she chose to, perhaps she could tell us why she continues to do it and how we can help her stop.

Well, "they" say ignorance is bliss. I've never really agreed with "them", but then I'm not particularly full of bliss.

But my point was that when I post here, I recognize and accept that I may be toyed with by other posters. I don't and won't accept that I might be toyed with by the good doctor, whom I admire and trust.

Too early and too quick to hit confirm.

I apologize for the second paragraph of my previous post. What I meant to say was that when I post here, I accept that other posters may not be who they represent themselves to be. That is a given in an internet situation. What I don't and won't accept is to be treated less than honestly by the good doctor, whom I admire and trust.

I really apologize, Dr. Bob. I didn't at all mean to speculate on the motives of other posters, which my second paragraph might suggest I meant to do. I just woke up seconds ago and wasn't thinking clearly.

She wasn't the first poster to change her name, nor the only one whose block I've offered to reduce...

But we've already established that in the future you'll make block reductions public. And in the past there were no rules about name changes and now there are.

So as of now, I don't have to rethink my particupation here, right?

Dinah,
Would you do me the great service of summarizing the name change thing (rules)? I am totally confused about the whole thing.

Many thanks,
Shar

Chuckle. Sounds like a great compromise, Shar.

It's been against the rules for some time to post under more than one name at once. Dr. Bob usually gives a "Please don't post under more than one name at once". But now he's added a rule about changing names, where if you change your name you're supposed to state that you are now posting under a new name in a post on Admin. It isn't necessary to give the old name. I imagine he'll give something along the lines of "Please announce your name change".

It's not foolproof, but neither is blocking. And it is a lot better than nothing, IMHO.

From the FAQ:

"Also, please don't post under more than one name at the same time. If for any reason you feel you need to change your posting name, follow these steps:

Stop posting under your current name.
Re-register ("for the first time") under a new name.
Post a message (under your new name) at Psycho-Babble Administration saying that you used to post under a different name. But not necessarily specifying that name.
The last step is to try to reassure people that posters who appear to be new really are new."

"They" do say that, but I don't agree with it either. What mean to say is that, if Krissy did pull this stunt again, I wouldn't think it would be a good idea for her to admit to it because of the things other posters may say to her. I don't like when people's feelings get hurt.

Thanks, Dinah, you've helped me get out of the muddle I was in. And, that is EVER so appreciated!
