Gabby and Tabitha -thanks

Posted by tealady on November 3, 2003, at 9:35:28

I appreciated both Gabby and Tabitha trying to get a message across to tell us newbies (who had no understanding of what happened in the past).
I really think they (and anyone) should be allowed to make a statement about what has happened openly.
Yes, I can see that this may affect someone negatively initially who is trying to start afresh, but I think they have to face up to their past to be genuinely able to start afresh.

With time, a commitment/effort by the person involved, a genuine feeling of understanding and compassion for those they may have hurt and a real desire to change..they should by their own actions/posts show they have changed and are making an effort and then they will be hopefully be accepted for the person they have become by at least the great majority of the board. This involves acknowledgement of what has happened for starters. If this is not made and there is no understanding and compassion for those they may have hurt ..change will probably not happen and many may be hurt again.

For many of us (like me) who were not around at the time, yes I did appreciate the warning ..mainly as I am not too strong myself right now...and I think there would be others in the same boat. Knowing does not make me condemn Krissy(Gall)..just helps me understand better, and forewarns me. I do not think it changes my feeling towards that person or would stop me trying to get in touch if they were hurting and I sensed it...but it does warn me and allows me to handle things better.
I really think everyone's feelings should be considered, not just one persons.
Just my personal feelings on the this matter.

Jan

my personal feelings is that the " horse is dead"
i try not to judge or " get a better understanding" of people for things that were done in the past,,especially if they did not concern me..
lets all live in there here and now!!
please dont talk about my past deeds or mention my screen name in your posts unless you are talking to me...

Hi, I should have addressed it to you too..only I must have been mistaken in thinking you had left.
I haven't followed all the posts.
so please take it as addressed to you to, OK?
I would have worded it a bit differently I guess, but I still feel the same.
You know I've always tried to help Gal.
So if i'm not still confused ..are you Gal?
If so, glad you didn't leave, but I don't follow multiple names well.
Bet you wish there was a delete function on posts, I do. Apology accepted, I understand , but just disagree.
I try to live day by day too, but what I do today or leave undone will affect tomorrow to a certain extent..and yesterday does affect the way I experience today. That doesn't mean I can't change though..everyone does. Hopefully we try to change for the better from learning from our past mistakes. It's our decision to a certain extent.
My best friend when I was 8 had a mother who committed suicide after attempting for 3 years. Her story was very sad. I'll always remember it and her. Perhaps I should tell you the story?

Hi.....I am sorry about your friend's loss. But, I feel that suggesting to JYL that you have to explain your friend's mother's suicide is an uncivil comment. I believe every single person on here is quite aware of the impact of suicide, one way or another, and nobody has a monopoly on it.

Jay, It was meant in a friendly way to try to explain why I thought as I did by a specifc example. There was so much positive going in that example for the future
I was confused as to what JYL was trying to say..I give up.
