Actually, I was so astonished that I didn't phrase that properly. What I meant was that I was astonished at the implication that I would be less than honored by the company I keep, and seriously hope I misunderstood your meaning.
Where I come from, we take insults to our friends pretty seriously. Especially when they are made directly to us. It would be considered something akin to an insult to one's mother, I believe. So I really hope that I was mistaken in your meaning.
If I am, then I beg pardon.

Well, I'll have to consult my Code Duello, but I always prefer to give every chance for rapprochement before asking someone to have his seconds call upon my seconds.
Also I have sufficient regard for St. James to prefer to choose to believe that I was mistaken than that he holds my honor and fidelity in such low esteem.
