If you can state categorically that the new posters aren't old posters, could you please do it. Becaues new posters are getting hurt.

It can't be done. Bob can be relatively sure when new posters ARE old posters, if they're not clever enough (or don't bother) to hide their tracks, but there's no way to be certain that new posters AREN'T old posters.
Think about it. If you xxx-- how would that be different than if any other person did the exact same thing? There would be no connection, physical or electronic, between the old Dinah and the new one.

In some cases it might be relatively possible, wouldn't it? If addresses or service providers are in different states or something?
Of course, I guess if he cleared some people, other people would be in even worse shape.
I'm trying to err on the side of trusting myself. I may not hand out email invitations or anything, but.... If someone tricks us, it's them who should be ashamed. We may feel a bit foolish, and if Dr. Bob colluded in any way even betrayed. But if we're unkind to someone who doesn't deserve it? I dunno. I'd rather be the one who has nothing to be ashamed of. But that's the overriding theme of my life.
The world is ending? Is it my fault? No? Well then ok, what a relief! (grin)

Ugh. That sounded awful. I'm sorry. I'm all for limiting exposure to being hurt. I guess I just have put a certain distance between myself and the board. I've had some less than positive (I hope that's civil enough) posts directed to me. I only remember one set lately that really hurt, and that was largely because of outside circumstances. There are people from this board who could hurt me a lot, but I have a fair amount of faith in those people and they've proven themselves time and time again.
I shouldn't assume that everyone has been able to achieve that distance. It's a mixed blessing sort of talent I have, and one I wouldn't necessarily wish on anyone else. So everyone should of course do what they need to do to feel safe here.
I didn't mean to sound judgemental. :( Everyone really does have to work from their own comfort areas.
In fact, things are getting so weird around here that the whole atmosphere is rather..... Well my head is spinning, and I keep thinking I really should take that break.

I guess I'm getting that overall impression from posts to and from newcomers, the thread about familiar sounding posts, and the ducks and chickens thread.
I can understand why people are cautious. Goodness only knows I can. But I can also understand that if I were new I'd be feeling really uncomfortable. I was hoping Bob could tell us it was ok, but I guess Tabitha's right and he can't really.

Dinah your post did not sound awful or judgemental to me at all. Go easy on yourself.

Im pretty new but I feel like Ive been caught out in public naked too. I revealed quite a bit of myself that Im ashamed of to people who werent what they claimed.
Oh goodness I hope I have remained within the bounds of civility with that statement.
One can never be quite sure .... god, where's the xanax!

Could I ask you not to tell people how to get around the rules? Thanks,
Bob
