Last visited - back to the future

Posted by mars on January 7, 2001, at 21:38:03

Hi all ~

The "last visited" indicator doesn't seem to be functioning for me - for instance, it's 7:30 pm pacific time, January 7, 2001, and here's what I saw:

Last visit: Wednesday, March 17, 2280 3:16:18 AM

My system date is correct. Not sure this is a real problem, but just thought I'd drop a line.

What time zone are you in? :-)

Maybe visit a few more times and see if it corrects itself? The last-visit "cookies" are working for me...

I have similar results. I think it's how your page is converting the cookie date into text. I have a cookie value of 978887371680 for a date that should be today, but the display also shows dates in 2280.

I looked at the page source; I don't know JavaScript, so I can't point to what exactly is wrong, but I think it's somewhere in here:
var lastDate = new Date()
lastDate.setTime(lastTime + ZERR) // with kludge
var when = lastDate.toLocaleString()

hope that helps.

Well, what do you know, that's what I get, too! The "new" labels were working for me, so I wasn't even paying attention to what it actually said up there. I'll have to take a look at this...

My "last visit" at the top of this page reads today - 04/01/2280. Over here in Australia we do the dates like that (day, month, year) but I thought at this site it was always like you guys in the U.S. read it (month, day, year). Perhaps it just adjusts for where you might be! I would love to be around in 2280 tho!

Best wishes,
Deb

The format of the date may depend on the version of the browser that you have. Maybe it's an Australian one? Or one that's been Australianized?

Well, at least you got to visit. But you should be back now. :-)

It's weird, how it just started doing this, I hadn't changed the "script" for a while. I guess it had to do with moving the site?

Hi Dr. Bob -
