Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has tried asenapine, an atypical antipsychotic:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AsenapineIt seems to be a very "dirty" drug that hits a multitude of receptors, as an antagonist except for partial agonism at serotonin 5-HT1A.
Reading the reviews at:
https://www.drugs.com/comments/asenapine/
it seems to be a miracle drug for some people.-undopaminergic

Asenapine (Saphris) has an unquestionable antidepressant and energizing effect. I watched it happen to me briefly, and watched it happen to a close friend mine who has been in remission for well over a year. Asenapine is a necessary component of her treatment. However, both of us are bipolar, so I don't know how that factors in to the equation.

>I'm part of the original thread, and I see this was before the official dx of bipolar. In retrospect, Saphris induced near mania, something unidentified at the time. I have BPll. Why do doctors hesitate to dx bipolar?

It can do that and also make you sleep like a brown bear?

Thanks for the additional insight. That improvement in sleep is important. My friend didn't have that. I think that I forgot to say that I had been on asenapine a few years ago, but just for a few weeks. It didn't lead to remission, but its antidepressant properties were unmistakeable. I don't remember what the dosage was, but it pooped-out on me after two weeks.
