I am aware that SSRIs are not particularly popular, partly because they often cause side effects like apathy and indifference, also known as "zombification" syndrome, but some people seem to do quite well on them.
From all the SSRIs that you've taken, which one has been "the best"?
Here a list with all the SSRIs:
Citalopram
Escitalopram
Fluoxetine
Fluvoxamine
Paroxetine
SertralineWe can also count in the following drugs:
Venlafaxine (Effexor)
Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq)
Duloxetine (Cymbalta)
Vilazodone (Viibryd)
Vortioxetine (Trintellix)Although described as SNRIs, duloxetine (Cymbalta), venlafaxine (Effexor), and desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) are in fact relatively selective as serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs).[130] They are about at least 10-fold selective for inhibition of serotonin reuptake over norepinephrine reuptake.[130] The selectivity ratios are approximately 1:30 for venlafaxine, 1:9 for duloxetine, and 1:14 for desvenlafaxine.[130] At low doses, these SNRIs act mostly as SSRIs
Vilazodone (Viibryd) and vortioxetine (Trintellix) are SRIs that also act as modulators of serotonin receptors and are described as serotonin modulators and stimulators (SMS).[134] Vilazodone is a 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist while vortioxetine is a 5-HT1A receptor agonist and 5-HT3 and 5-HT7 receptor antagonist.

I'd say sertraline was the best if I had to choose, and paroxetine was the worst.
In some ways, fluoxetine was best, and had the least side effects.

Fluoxetine didn't seem to make anything worse, except that it had mild anorgasmic side effects. At one point it even seemed to help me stay up longer. It did not worsen apathy.
Sertraline, on some occasions, especially early on, seemed to stimulate me, perhaps more than fluoxetine. It didn't seem to increase apathy much, except when I was really low, and suicidal -- the apathy reduced my motivation to actually act on my sucidal desires.
Escitalopram had a low profile. IIRC less sexual side-effects than sertraline.
It's hard for me to recall any details, it's been at least 7 years since I last used one.

Sertraline seems to cause apathy quite often. Albeit its DRI effects... strange!

Trintellix by far, followed by emsam.
Worst, pristiq, effexor, zoloft.
Are you considering options?

> Are you considering options?I've been on Zoloft / Sertraline. I am somewhat divided when it comes to Sertraline. It was good for psychosomatic ailments, it helped with derealiziation and OCDish-like symptoms. It was somewhat good for social anxiety (to some degree), but the apathy and indifference was a major problem on it...

fluoxetine - took it 15 years ago and noticed a mood lift, almost like a warm feeling, dose increased to 40mg i was more social and up beat and definitely less depressed. It gave a warm relief from depression. Today if i don't take it i definitely can notice, even posting, painful

Which other SSRIs did you try and how did they work?

cymbalta, i took it for 3-4 months when i was teen, did notice some uplift, but i only stayed on 30mg. It did feel a slight kick, but when i got on prozac it definitely worked, at 80mg

duloxetine is not SSRI, SNRI.
This is the end of the thread.
