Dementia. 100 years old!

Posted by Lamdage22 on September 1, 2019, at 0:10:31

My grandma is basically waiting for her death and she is very anxious at times. She cant see properly, she cant hear properly... When i visit her and i come back from the restroom, she doesnt know who i am until i tell her. I believe that she is on a low dose of melperon.

Is there anything that can make it a bit easier for her? Perhaps a benzo? What about opiates? They say that they dont know for how long her body will keep going. The mind is dying but not the body.

The way she is doing is a tough pill to swallow. I want to just hug her and not let go. But of course this is impossible. We children and grandchildren have our own life to live. If we wanted to nurse her we would all have to live under the same roof with her and everyone would have one day of the week to take care of her.

She is in a nursing home. And they kind of neglect her.

When we want to leave after visiting her she throws a tantrum. She does not want to be alone.

Is there a way to make her more comfortable?

This is the end of the thread.
