Currently I'm taking 2500mg of Keppra a day for bipolar. I like it a lot, but it doesn't seem like it enough to keep me stable when I have to take pain meds for a chronic pain condition.
Of course my doc that treats my pain suggests Elavil, neurontin or lyrica.
My question: is there a Med I can add to Keppra that would both help pain and add more stability & help with anxiety?
I can't take any of the SSRIs or SNRIs because they cause mania. Actually, Elavil causes some mania too.

Tramadol may help. Its a mild opiate and a very weak SNRI. Its anti-glutamatergic, like Lamictal so it may provide some stability.
