Trivastal RT (Piribedil) anyone?

Posted by uncouth on July 17, 2015, at 12:37:23

Hi,

Has anyone tried Trivastal (piribedil) recently? I am intrigued by this medication and what I have read about itI am BP2, currently on 120mg parnate, 2.5mg abilify, 100mg strattera, 21mg Namenda XR.

I was in real bad shape just a week ago, when I started on Abilify again after many months off. It was like a light switched on in my brainmood, motivation, anhedonia improved etc. The problem is that no matter what they say, abilify always gives me weight gain and increases carb cravings at any dose, even when I am dieting.

Mirapex has worked similarly well in the past as a DA, and ends up causing some weight loss, which is nice, but it ALWAYS poops out. And dosing is hard to get right, as too high causes compulsivity, increased libido, etc.

Trivastal seems like a very interesting drug as my reading says it is a partial agonist at D2/D3, which seems like it would mimic the positive benefits of abilify.

Anyone have any recent experience with this medication?

I have started taking Trivastal RT at 100mg a day as I am weaning off Parnate

So far so good. I have responded to both dopamine agonists and low dose aripiprazole before. Mirapex tends to eventually poop out however, hoping Trivastal (piribedil) partial agonist actions will make it more effective and less likely to poop out.

Wish I could tolerate low dose abilify but even at lowest dose it profoundly affects appetite and causes weight gain in me. Metformin doesn't help.
