Have not tried bystolic. Clonidine HCL is a blood pressure medication with off label use for anxiety. I think they also use clonidine for hyperactivity in ADHD kids. (I'll hold off on editorial comment.) Works well for me in small amounts but I find it very sedating (I'm very sensitive to those possible effects, though) .

I take 5mg./day for high blood pressure, without any noticeable side effects, good or bad. Being a beta blocker it might have an effect on your heart rate, sweating, tremulousness... all the nasty sensations that arise from stress. Many take propanolol, another more general acting b blocker before giving a speech. Some claim the awareness of the anxiety is still there, but the physical manifestations like a trembling voice, etc.are diminished or absent. Hope this helps.
