Hi all. I've been on 45 mg remeron taken nightly for 11 days now and I find that I'm sedated and anxious at this dose than I was during the two weeks that I was on 30 mg nightly. Will both the sedation and agitation pass in time or should I consider returning to 30 mg nightly? I'm also considering adding clomipramine as OCD doesn't seem to have responded positively to the 45 mg. I'm not entirely sure how it was during the two weeks at 30 mg but I can't help but believe it was better than it currently is. Thanks for any responses.

Hi, I had the same issue above 30 MG. 30 MG is the ideal dose for me. Remeron is a gift from god. I gained 60 lbs on it in 5 months, but it was the first time in my life that I was well rested all the time.

I do well on doses less than 15mg. Keep in mind that remeron is not an OCD medication. It is not approved for OCD. Its not true that all antidepressants have anti-ocd effects.

Good point. I was hoping that it would improve OCD because agents that address my depression typically do and I've read of other users in the archives who have seen improvement in OCD with remeron. Thank you, though. I'm going to be looking at adding clomipramine. I'm also currently taking 5 mg abilify and 2 mg ativan daily.

Remeron is mostly a strong antihistamine at lower doses, and then adds to that an adrenalin booster of sorts, or NE releaser actually, at the same time. That's why you are feeling both calming and activation mixed.
I've had that feeling before. That sucks! Yikes. Sorry!
It will take more time for the body to adjust to the new med molecule and what it is doing. And it may well be that your best dose is lower at 30mg. Only self trials and time will tell.

It's only been two days since I lowered the dose to 30 mg again but it's still overwhelming my capacity to tolerate anxiety and OCD. I'm going to have to come off of it and re-jig some things. Perhaps Clomipramine and working from there because OCD seems to be the primary issue right now.
This is the end of the thread.
