Long Term Exercise(16 Weeks) Works for Insomnia

Posted by babbler20 on June 10, 2014, at 14:43:15

I came across a study done by Northwestern University exactly 17 weeks ago that claimed that after exercising at least 4 times a week for at least 35 minutes at 70% of your heart rate, everyone in the study started sleeping at least 45 minutes longer. I have been dealing with chronic insomnia for 5 years, every night. The only thing that helped me was Remeron, but I gained 60 lbs. Without Remeron I don't sleep more than 5 hours. I thought this study was BS, but I had nothing to do, so I followed the protocol exactly for the last 17 weeks. After 15 weeks, I wasn't sleeping better, but shortly after the 16 week mark, magically I began sleeping at least 6 hours and 30 minutes a night. I have had two days during the last two weeks where I didn't sleep well, but other than that I've had amazing results. I haven't modified my medications at all during the last 17 weeks. I hope this continues. If you struggle with insomnia you have to try this. I slept for 10 hours on one occasion and 11 hours on another. I can't explain why this works and I don't know if it will continue to, but I'm amazed.
