I've heard of it being tested on rats as an antidepressant, and it was effective. It increases hippocampal neurogenesis.

If Lopressor is an Ace inhibitor and I was prescribed it as a med to take for anxiety before starting first ad then it does help with anxiety. But makes one very tired. I took it for a while maybe 6 months and then stopped taking it. Phillipa

Candesartan is a different kind of hypertension drug -- an angiotensin II receptor antagonist.

thanks hugh. there are one or two people who've told me that it completely eliminated physical/anxiety panic (more so than benzos), so i'm interested in it. i'm just not entirely sure whether it's safe to take long-term .. there's a paper suggesting it might not be, i'll try to find it
