Savella is helping me quite a bit. Some days are pretty darn good, others still kind of down but not the deep dark down. That has been gone for a few weeks.
Since I read all of the posts, blogs, and such from people who were in clinical trials with savella, I was aware that the best results came from people who took it for a long time....months. For me that was confirmed. It did nothing for me for 10 weeks. I almost gave up many times. I mean, why keep taking a med for almost 3 months when it appears to be a loser? But true to what others said, it took a while, but when it kicked in, it did so impressively.
I have a long way to go with lyme and depression, but improvement has been significant.
The dose is too low to work....if you ask someone else. It is 6mg twice a day.
While I am thankful for savella and herbs, all glory for them belongs to God.

I give up on things, especially psych meds, really easy. I too took one quarter of a 25mg Savella cap twice a day. I noticed something from the start.....a nice calm feeling, sort of warm, and then a bit later a funny prickly feeling in my skin. Rightly or wrongly I told myself that the warm feeling was the SRI effect and the prickly thing was the NE. That is what made me stop. I didn't feel like forcing myself to get used to it so the side effect (of the prickly skin) would go away.
I wonder if I should have persisted? I liked the calm feeling. I could have taken even less, I suppose and tried to find some dose that was even a little helpful. I don't know how people can start on 50mg/d. It would be quite an experience.

Yeah it sounds like it was too much. I'm surprised my doses are so low. I basically lowered the dose to where ever there were no bad effects to get used to, and then over weeks tried to increase it, every time was a mistake, so I stay at the tiny doses, and I knew all along this was going to be about a 12 to 16 week wait. That's why I didn't want bothersome side effects. To make it that long, it wouldn't be possible.
My dose is the same as yours was, 1/4 of 25mg twice a day. But even just 1/8 is still powerful, but with less bad effects. My doctor says savella is very potent. I don't understand how someone could take a regular dose of say 50mg twice a day, or 100mg twice a day.. Wow.> I give up on things, especially psych meds, really easy. I have been on Savella 100mg a day for over a year. I tied to go up to 150mg/day but it was giving me problems with sweating and insomnia. It gives me some motivation and relief from anxiety. Makes me more sociable as it reduces social anxiety some. I have to say this med doesn't cause any cognitive side effects and and dry mouth as the SSRI's do. I have just started taking cyproheptadine for the sweating and sexual side effects. Too soon to tell if it is working. I will let you know.
This is the end of the thread.
