Because there's a good chance I would have needed meds if I didn't grow up in an alcoholic family. From 7 years old till now it still affects me.
Here are the traits of ACOA's. Most have most, some have all. I still relate to this more than anything else in my life.

I hope people read this. It profoundly affected my life. Shame is the center of the onion.
I never went to an ACOA meeting where at least one person spoke that I didn't have tears streaming down my face. The brutal honestly and the guts to tell your story affected everyone.
I've never found God in a church but I could feel his presence in those rooms.

Phil, you are one of the people here that I think about and hope the best for. I am saddened to hear the way you grew up. I am amazed at your sense of humor in light of that.

Thanks gc...I'm doing OK for the shape I'm in. I didn't get triggered till I saw the UK poster. The Amy Winehouse Foundation is behind them now which makes me extremely happy.
Child abuse, neglect, etc is one of the saddest things to me. When I see it in public, and I have, I take whatever action I feel necessary.

Why? because this is where it belongs. I'm sorry so many live neglectful lives and also end up on meds for this that were not there fault. Phillipa
