The article mentions that some drugs currently on the market to treat rheumatoid arthritis dampen the immune response by inhibiting interleukin-6, and may be helpful for some of those whose depression is caused by an overactive immune system. A supplement called Moducare supposedly inhibits interleukin-6. Cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness meditation have been shown to reduce interleukin-6 levels.
