maybe something for sadness...

Posted by Christ_empowered on September 20, 2012, at 16:38:20

I haven't taken an AD in...2 years, maybe? I took one for psychotic depression (celexa, 20mgs) along w/ 30mgs Abilify. It was OK, until I got so tranquilized I was literally doing *nothing* all day.

I'm now on 30 Abilify and 900 Neurontin. I like the Neurontin. I wasn't quite aware how much tension and agitation I had until I started the Neurontin. Now, I'm feeling much, much better.

That said...I'm still socially phobic as hell. Barely leaving my apt. I want to get back into vocational rehab, get a job, all that, but...

...agitation, sadness, anxiety leads to what I suppose is some sort of depression. I feel awfully nihilistic (is there a pill for that? lol) and a little spaced out.

Any recommendations? I'm already trying to lose weight, so remeron is out unless my doc decides to use a higher dose, which she probably won't. Keep in mind that, over the long haul, SRI drugs dull me out too much, which is why I avoid them when possible.

I'm not deep in the throes of psychotic depression anymore, but I do think I could use something to get me to the point that I'm actually able to do things and benefit from vocational rehab and..life. Getting a life would be nice.

Thanks

Bupropion +/- SSRI - the bupropion will help reduce the flattening effect of the SSRI, while still allowing the benifits to shine through. It should be weight negative, give you a hit of motivation, help your social anxiety, and generaly help you feel "better"

I'd realy encourage you to try the SSRI + bupropion, and see if it dulls you out in the same way that an SSRI by it self does.

If you cant handel the SSRI, then it would still be worth taking the bupropion, but you might not get as much releif of social anxiety. Viibrid might be an option instead of one of the older SSRI's, its 5HT1 action might be helpfull to you.

I know where yiou're at - 2.5 years ago i was not leaving the house except to go to the supermarket late at night, and I'd drive to a different suburb where I wouldnt bump into aybody I knew, no job, not trying to get one etc...... that first step seems so.....insumountable.

A few tablets on a benzo might also be very usefull - to be able to take a pill occasiobaly before an important interview for example, could be a big help

Cymbalta? Even been on this? I'd wondered where you had gone. So things got worse? Phillipa
