Vyvanse-- not as effective 6 hours in. up dose?

Posted by novelagent on June 13, 2012, at 16:18:43

So I am on Vyvanse, and when I take 2 70's, it works really well for 6 hours, but wanes after that. I'm thinking of asking my doc to adjust the dose, maybe adding 20 mg to total 160mg (my insurance co. claims the prior authorization is valid for up to 180mg, so I guess they don't care about how many pills I take as long as it doesn't exceed that dose).

Has anyone else had experience with Vyvanse? If my doc doesn't agree to that, I guess I might just switch back to Dexedrine Spansules, or maybe just do my more intense work in the morning... I really hate how Spansules aren't 1:1 as strong as Dexedrine tabs, and how Dexedrine IR tabs aren't likely going to be back from their shortage until sometime in the fall...

Mikart seems like they're dragging their feet to get ready for manufacturing their Dexedrine tablets-- they were approved to sell them last spring, and since this past winter, at least, they said they wouldn't have them out until this upcoming fall. = /

Are Adderall Immediate Release tablets still a problem to get? They're still listed as a shortage by the FDA... This is getting beyond absurd.

I've actually had good results with Vyvanse and it's lasting 12 hours or so which surprised me. I'm at 120mg.

Mine's at 70mg, but it doesn't work at 70mg-- that's like taking 10 mg 3x/day of Adderall, and I took 20mg 3x/day of Adderall when I took it. So once a week, I do all of the stuff I was putting off, and take 2 70's of Vyvanse (140mg).

I have anhedonia at 70mg. It sucks. If I take 140mg, I'm fine. It works pretty well all day-- a good 14 hours-- but the extra oomph that I find helpful for learning a foreign language (which drains me, and tests my meds the most) only lasts for the first six hours. 70mg doesn't let me do much, but it helps me get by somewhat until I switch docs... it'll be another month and a half, thanks to them constantly re-scheduling it...

sigh. Now the excuse for not adjusting my dose is that I'm switching docs in a month and a half. Before, it was the PDR didn't call for doses above 70mg. I see a resident right now, and they don't exactly get experimental.

I used to be on the exact dose your on...two 70's in the morning...almost for 1 year and it lasted maybe if I was lucky 7 hours and then had the nasty wash out periods which I used to drown it out benzos I was prescribed at the time. I was moved to Dexedrine Span. 60mg 2 15mg in the morning...2 15mg afternoon, but still had to deal with the wear off period at night. Really if you think about it 140mg is around 60mg of adderall, or 40-50mg of dextroamphetamine that lasts for a longer period than the dextroamphe. tablets. Whats makes me annoyed is people told me I was an addict for taking this amount, and then everytime I justify it....no one listens, their are indivduels who take 140 and then 30mg of regluar dextroamphetamine for focus in the evening. Their was a previous poster here that took 120mg of adderall daily...he didnt use his intelliect with medications and died. But seriously .... I have been on most of the amphetamines expect for desoxyn...if you have questions, I know them...

Addreall is being held back from the Drug Enforement Agency because of its growing reputation of replacing street speed, the same thing that happened in the drug enforement acts in the 1970s are happening again because its repeating history again, widely used and vary often by doctors and increase of abuse.

I used to take Dextrostat 10 mg, 2 pills, 2 x per day. When I switched my AD to Prozac 40 mg I noticed the Dextrostat would never wear off & was much stronger. It got to the point where I couldn't sleep and it would never wear off and had hallucinations. I think there is a major interaction b/c prozac strongly inhibits cyp2d6 which is how dexedrine/vyvanse/dextrostat is metabolized. In the literature there is an interaction b/t desipramine & dextrostat, prozac is even a stronger cyp2d6 inhibitor than desipramine.
