9mg emsam not working.should i up to 12 or give up

Posted by n_shrimpie on June 2, 2012, at 21:55:15

I was on Emsam 6 mg for 4 weeks, and have now been on 9mg emsam for 3 weeks, but i'm not feeling any improvement, and my derealization symptoms, which are the worst aspect of my depression, haven't improved at all. The only think that improves the derealization is valium, and i can't take that long term. Should I quit the emsam now or up it to 12mg? I'm tempted to go back to nardil but the side effects are intolerable.

I've been on valium for over 35 years never raised dose so if that is your fear you will only take what you need right now. What side effects are intolerable? What does your doc say? Phillipa

my doctor says to up it to 12 mg but she's not very experienced, is only a psychiatric nurse. no side effects except insomnia which i treat with gabapentin. valium is ONLY thing that really eliminates my horrific derealization, but i've heard horror stories of it permanently altering gaba receptors.
