I am taking Trileptal and it seems great for my aggression and irritability. BUT - I also have some lingering depression.
I have tried low dose lithium, but since Trileptal already increases my urine output, the lithium added to it just makes that worse and I'm up all night.
I have thought about adding back 5mg of Adderall to my morning dose of Trileptal to get me moving and motivated. Otherwise I just sit around all day - calm, but unproductive and with low depression.
Scott - I asked my doc about bloodwork for the Trileptal and she said she didn't think bloodwork was necessary unless I was taking Trileptal with it.
I just need a little energy and boost for my low grade, constant depression.
Taking 600mg of Trileptal a day, not sure if lowering that is key to lowering depression.

Did you ask your doc about lowering the trileptal? Didn't hear there was bloodwork with just trileptal as I took and wasn't told of any. But if feeling pretty good why not stay where you are. Yes I also would love more energy but don't want to play so to speak with too many meds or even supplements as found fish oil aggitated me. Phillipa

Regarding Trileptal bloodwork, I was told that you need it if you develop any symptoms of "hyponatremia" (too little sodium in the blood, occurs in ~3% of people treated). Symptoms are flu-like feeling, confusion, ankle swelling. The blood test checks for sodium levels, but the test isn't routinely done.
