Had a DMPS Injection today. Concerned...

Posted by Lam22 on September 20, 2011, at 16:39:54

I had a DMPS Injection today. The Injection was performed over the course of 10 minutes, i peed in a cup directly after the shot and then half an hour after the shot. And that was it.

Why i did it is that my Mother had Amalgam Fillings.. not at the time of my birth but before that. She had them removed and never tested for mercury.

Now i read something about 24 hours and so on and so forth, DMPS being very dangerous/risky etc.

Im kinda scared i did something really dumb.. i should have started a thread here first. I trust you guys more than any random doctor and i feel stupid for not having asked since there are lots of knowledgeable and supporting people here.

Anyway what i notice now is that my ears turn red and hot. I have noticed this before and i felt that this reddenig of ears equalled a not so good mental state. I always thought it was (repressed) shame showing up as the symptom of red ears. But might it be that mercury is causing my red ears??

And: Do i have to fear something now because of the IV-DMPS? Was the test a useless and risky dump for the 70 bucks i gave that
doc??

I had the 24 hour DMPS injection thing where they collect a days worth of urine and examine it for heavy metals.

Twice, actually, and both times I felt better, almost chatty, which may have been because of a reduction of the mercury load.

I'd have it again, no worries, but then I was poisoned with mercury and maybe still am.

Is there any history of mania with you or your family? For me, red and hot ears are a sign of manic hyperarousal.

If you experience hyperarousal in a mixed-state bipolar episode, it will not feel at all euphoric. It would more likely make you dysphoric. Do you feel "wired" or "burned-out" during these times?

Hm not that i know.. when i was hyperthymic to hypo on nardil it went away. Im ashamed of it it can be a bit like sweating in a social setting. Just had the sweating today when i came in the docs office :/

these two female trainees.. They probably didn't notice but i did and for a short moment i felt that same kind of despair coming up like when i pretty much had a seizure in front of my class.

Social anxiety kinda really sucks.

Anyway i hope this test i did is legit. I find it weird, he took one pee test before one directly after and one 30min after. No idea. All i know is my mom had amalgam fillings some time before i was in her tummy

I think the correct way is to have one before the DMPS (to measure baseline) and then to collect 24 hours of urine in a big container.

Doing a 30 minute after one will get much of the mercury that is displaced, but it sounds subject to variables and not as fail safe.

Never heard of this test before do they still use chelation to remove heavy metals? Phillipa

DMPS, DMSA and EDTA are all chelation.

In the case of DMPS it is also diagnostic, since it is possible to tell from the urine something about the heavy metal load.

After reading wiki, do l understand that dmps is the first one to have as it is diagnostic of all metals, or only mercury?

On it's own, dmps can be enough treatment?

Chelation therapy has a number of warnings posted. And it looks like one can self treat w/ over the counter substances.

When I had my DMPS challenge there were a number of heavy metals being looked for, IIRC.

Mercury, cadmium, antimony, bismuth (not sure about bismuth), maybe lead. I don't remember now.

I felt better after it both times, and BB said something similar.

DMPS perhaps has to be by injection and is a little more toxic. It is both for treatment and diagnosis. DMSA is just for treatment.

I poisoned myself by eating fish near the top of the food chain.....mainly mahi mahi.

Does this mean, regarding the strange method of the test applied, that there is no way i have increased mercury?

Thanks
