Im trying to find some recent info about the use of Lyrica to help Social phobia problems but all the threads I found were from some years ago 2004'2006.DO you know if this drug is still being used to treat it? Maybe it didnt have positive effects so the people is not using it anymore with this purpose.
I find it different , Im starting to try these kind of drugs , eg Neurontin some months ago. But I dont see updated info
Am I going to the wrong way?

Its a modestly effective anxiolytic, but no more so than several other drugs, while it is hugely expensive.
I'd say that the benifits didnt ballance out the high cost

Hi Tepi. You are right. I also haven't seen any in a long time. As for why could be the expense. But a good question. Are you doing better? Love Phillipa

Tepi, I read think I read something about the makers of Lyrica being under some pressure for surpressing evidence of Lyrica's side effects.
If this is true, maybe that is why they have refrained from expanding their market by conducting trials to get Lyrica used for other purposes, like SP.
Not sure, though.
It's very different, in my experience, than neurontin. For me, not so great.
Nice to see your post.

I have not come across many comparisons of the two at all.
Can you say more about the differences and similarities?
My doc looked at the info on Lyrica and wasn't keen, but he was OK with gabapentin.

Some doctors are under the impression that Lyrica is addictive, and liable to be abused. This is not the case with Neurontin.

I read that despite the GABA in gabapentin it really does not fully engage GABA receptors the way originally thought nor does it nearly as fully (and differently) than Lyrica.
That's the full extent of my scientific knowledge, and I am pleased to share it with you today in all it's fullness.
Loopy on neurontin? My speech was slurring atnthe starting dose of Lyrica, so neurontin ain't nothing to me in comparison. Lyrica was a cognitive disaster for me. I had to get off before I wrecked the car. Really. But I also had some Xanax on board at the time. Well, still do.....

I am using lyrica at 150 mg for GAD with excellent results. Nothing affected my anxiety completely until pregabalin (approved in the EU and other countries). Here is my regimen at present and before pregabalin. None of these worked although I am still taking them.
Zoloft 150mg
Zyprexa 5mg (I think it pooped out after 5 years)
Xanax 4mg
Pregabalin 75mg bidMy goal, now that I have pregabalin (Lyrica)is to stop Zyprexa. I failed once to try to stop before the pregabalin.
I hope this answers the question.

Hi,
Lyrica is a miracle drug that can do wonders for your personality.
I take this medicine at night, but I have tried it in in the morning.
One day I went to see a new barber.
Normally I'm quiet, but now I was talking and being very sociable.
I was like a new person. The woman who cut my hair was so delighted she didn't know what to do.
It was really amazing. However, I don't take Lyrica in the morning any longer.
The reason is that this drug is tiring.Best regards,
Peter Heuer

Peter, that's grest to hear. I am wish it worked for me, too. It certainly extinguished anxiety. May I ask what dosage you take?
May I ask you, Peter, if you have any side effects?
Does it help you sleep at night?
But you feel it working the next day?
I'm glad you found this med, (I apologize for all the questions.)
Best regards, fb

Hi,
Here comes my answers to your questions:
> May I ask what dosage you take?
> I'm on 100 mg of Lyrica, which is a small dose.> May I ask you, Peter, if you have any side effects?
> The only side effect is tiredness.> Does it help you sleep at night?
> Lyrica is great in combo with Remeron. I fall asleep sooner, and I sleep longer in the morning.> But you feel it working the next day?
> The half time of Lyrica is six hours, so I don't feel much of this drug the next day. I'm on Buspar and Fluanxol for anxiety.Best regards,
Peter Heuer
