Feeling 'crazy' and xanax

Posted by alchemy on August 15, 2011, at 17:59:34

I know I don't act crazy, but I feel and think crazy. Thinking too much is another way to put it. Wondering about death, what if a, etc.

When I look back at my notes, I notice a lot of entries describing how I feel as "crazy" during the time I was in an anxiety period.

And now that I am having ECT preparation and cutting out the xanax, the word "crazy" comes to mind. But I have also cut down on Lamictal.

Has anyone else experienced a sense of the crazies from an anti-anxiety med? At what does? I have been on 2mg of long acting xanax for a couple of years. I wonder if it would be good to raise my dose.

You are having ECT? Is the anxiety of this causing the reaction you are having? Phillipa

Alchemy, I can relate to the crazies in my own way. Anxiety can drive me out of my mind. I mean that literally.

There is something about ECT that requires a withdrawal from medication?

I recently withdrew from Xanax xr myself and needed to restart at a slightly higher dose. Xanax is, I have subsequently been told, just about one of the most difficult substances to taper.

Please don't underestimate the effect of the medication taper on your cogntion or anxious thinking or thought content.

How far down do you need to taper? And for how long?

I am sorry it's been so on-going for you. It's good to hear from you.

When I had ECT I couldn't have ativan the night before, but I could have it on the nights when no ECT was scheduled. I had to stop lamictal, which wasn' doing a thing for me anyway.
