It's 4am where I am. I wonder if the declining efficacy I've experienced is due to weeks of non refreshing sleep. I cut off the caffeine at 10 am yesterday and was of no help. I wake up every day early, and almost feel like I have a hangover. Last night, I took two Klonopin at 12am. If I take doxylamine, I sleep longer but not ax much, and still awaken as if I have a mild alcohol hangover plus an anticholinergic one. Dalmane my insurance will cover. When I took it years ago, it seemed to work well. Temazepam works well for initiation but not so much maintenance. I am tempted to go to the ER to ask for a script to cover me till my next appointment. That way, if it does work, my shrink would be unwise to not give me a refill. What do you guys think? I mean, one can only operate on insufficient sleep for so long. Ambien would be a no for me, as I've done STRANGE things during the night on it. So tired. I wish antihistamines were a good solution for me as they're so benign. Traz also causes a nasty hangover. And I have a terrible phobia of APs based on one experience plus things I've read, seen, and heard from others. If I do this, it WILL be hard. ER docs often don't take kindly to people coming in asking for benzos.

Zonked you have to sleep. Benzos will work. Hoping the docs will cooperate. Did you call your own doc? Phillipa

Zonked, can you take a sensible person to the ER with you?
That helped me not look like a drug-seeker.Too bad about ambien. That stared happening to me on lunesta :-/
You know that I think sleep is important. Maybe for some more than others. We don't get to choose. At least you know what you will respond to, however imperfect the benzo class is for sleep.
Good luck. Try not to wait too long if you decide to go the ER route. Have any med records to bring for support?

I read more and more of people taking low dose Seroquel for MAOI induced insomnia. I have heard that it can be effective.
I know you mentioned that you have a phobia of APs. Is there anything in particular that frightens you? It is only a low dose of Seroquel that people take to help, so maybe that will at least help to reduce some of your fears?
You could also consider promazine. It's prescribed for agitation and restlessness. I find it effective in helping me to sleep although it dose have a hangover effect.
Good luck!

If you need somthing for initiation and maintainance, ask for flurazepam - it has a much longer half life than temazepam, and would almost certainly help ypu sleep right through.
It would also prsess a tranquilising effect throughout all of the following day, so be careful driving etc.
Dose 15-30mg at night.
Have you tried taking your tmeazepam along with a Unisom Sleeptab (doxylamine susscinate) ?
I find taking one of my Xanax along with a Unisom gives me a good sleep
This is the end of the thread.
