Hi guys new member here.
Was just looking to get some feedback on what dosages people are finding good on abilify, mainly for Borderline Personality Disorder but other indications as well.I am on:
Prozac 20mg
Abilify 5mg
and
Seroquel XR 50mg (Evenings)Thnx for any feedback.

I find the med is great myself im just debating going any further up as i am on prozac as well. Discussing with doc on monday anyway.

What are your concerns with combining Abilify with Prozac?

I think Prozac raises Abilify levels, so you should probably be careful with dosage increases. If I remember correctly, you're supposed to cut your target dose in 1/2 if you're on Prozac. I may be wrong, though.
Abilify starts working as a full-on antipsychotic at 10mgs. Since you're @ 5mgs and taking Prozac, I imagine you have sufficient blood levels for Abilify to function as a tranquilizer/antipsychotic. Unless you're having problems right now, I'd personally advise you to think about either staying at your current dose or just adding in 1/2 of a 5mgs tablet, which would give you blood levels equivalent to 15mgs/abilify, which was (may still be) the "target dose" for just about whatever ails you when you're taking Abilify.
According to my ex-shrink, higher doses of Abilify are more "soothing" and lower doses are more stimulating, which I guess is why they opted for a 15mgs target dose; at that dose I imagine you have full-blown tranquilization mixed with some mild stimulation. I dunno...just a guess.
I hope things work out for you. Have you considered using low-dose Zyprexa as-needed for any episodes you might have? I've heard that some people w/ Borderline do that, apparently with good results.

thnx for the advice, docs idea was to go to 10 if i feel the need.Im starting buprenorphine today tho so i might give that a chance to build up first.

Just be aware that the previous poster, C_E, was right about the interaction between Prozac and Abilify. Prozac raises the levels of Abiify. Still, I would not be afraid of going to up to 10mg.

Hey thanx for the info. I am enjoying the more stimulating effect of the Abilify which is counteracting my depression. I guess im fine where i am dosage wise.
Zyprexa is great for severe crisis... where weight gain is ok. Personally i just adjust my seroquel accordingly in those hard to manage times.

I would seriously discuss with your doc the ideaof changing from prozac to either Zolfot of citralopram/escitralopram, due to the interaction with Prozac

Anyone else agree? or have any comments?
I responded well to zoloft, didnt get anything of citalopram/escitalopram unfortunately. I wish i did so i could give my liver a break.I only take the prozac coz it gets me up and going. Do people think Zoloft can provide this?

I think as long as you and your doc are mindful of the interaction and dose the Abilify accordingly, you'll be fine. I think the rule is 1/2 of your target dose, so your maximum dose should be 15mgs or so, unless you start having problems that would respond to a high dose antipsychotic.
The only thing that really, really sucks about Prozac is that long half life. But if you're not having any problems, I don't see why you'd want to switch things around; just be careful with the dose and you'll be fine.

Does anyone around here have the neuro smarts?
Which combo of abilify with either Prozac or Zoloft would i be better off with?I respond well to both of them. So physically and mentally which is going to give me the best relief of my depression, anxiety/social issues and poor cognition.
The secondary dopaminergic effect of Zoloft interests me a lot. I feel my cognition is suffering under Prozac. Like i should be taking the Zoloft because of the possible benefit.
Theres lots of differences among receptors and these meds that i dont understand.
My question comes as i am on Abilify 5mg and Prozac 20mg and want to be augmenting the best antiD possible for maximum relief.

The only thing Id worry about on that combo is akathisia. Both of those drugs are notorious for causing it. Inner tension, restlessness, agitation.
Can be mistaken for anxiety too.
