Clomipramine and Zoloft

Posted by Justherself54 on January 14, 2011, at 18:05:43

As I can't go any higher than 175 mg of clomi (some fairly bad side effects) my pdoc wants me to drop to 100 mg. and add 50 mg. of Zoloft.

I don't want to drop the clomi as it's been the only medication that has helped not only with depression but with the added bonus of completely blocking my coccyx pain.

Do I run the risk of serotonin syndrome? He says no..but I'm always the scardy cat when it comes to changing around meds.

Thanks kindly..

I'm on two SSRI's and none so far pdoc said call her if I think I have it. Low doses of each. Glad the pain is still gone. Phillipa

Hi,

I am currently taking Prozac 60mg and Clomipramine 50mg. I was on the Prozac first. The two seem to work together so that I am actually taking more like 200mg of Clomipramine, I was told.
My side effects include shaking of my leg, but Clomipramine helped me so much that I am willing to overlook this side effect.
I don't know about the risk of serotonin syndrome. I will take this risk if it means my suicidal thoughts are gone.

Hi Justherself,

What symptoms are you and your doc wanting to address? Greater depression relief? (I hope you are not having breakthrough pain.)

I'm curious how the zoloft works for you if you go that way.

Oh, judging by what others take, you wouldn't be trying anything too outrageous.

Post how you do,
