There is a lot of controversy surrounding mdma(ecstacy) but it appears to have a lot of theraputic benifits. I can tell you from having used the drug myself, that it truely gets rid of social anxiety and increases empathy. Im thinking eventually it will get approved by the FDA for theraputic use. There are some issues I would like to bring up.
There is a tolerance level that increases drasticly with the first couple of usages, where the user has to wait weeks or months before he or she uses again in order to achieve those same effects. I wonder how they would combat this, especially if it is to eventually be perscribed as a drug taken daily. Also the duration of time that the effects last is 3-6 hours. People are gona need for it to last their whole day in order for it to be effective.
Methamphetamine,a close relative of MDMA, is used in ADD medication such Ritalin and Adderall. They were able to release time release forms of those drugs that last 12 plus hours. So I dont see why they cant with mdma. MDMA has been shown to be extremly effective in combating PTSD,Depression Social Anxiety,Schitzophrenia and autism and is currently undergoing more research.
Wat do you guys think?

Until somewhat recently (mid80s, I think) ecstasy was legal. Some therapists used it with patients with various problems to help them with their issues. I think maybe we'll see limited availability for supervised, maybe in-office treatment. That would be nice.

To be honest, I think the probability of that happening is virtually zero.

I agree. I think the chances of the drug being approved for anything is nonexistent.

Are there some parts of the world that have escaped the social controls?
Some parts of India or South America?
Better off just to move.

As someone who's tried ecstasy in their younger days, I can definitely see how it could be used to treat social anxiety and depression.
I think it would be more useful administered in a low-dose, extended release form. Otherwise you'd have a lot of people hugging each other and talking about how beautiful life is all day =)

It is banned in India. All stimulants except Methylphenidate are also banned. I have terrible social Phobia and Depression and not helped by SSRIs,SNRIs, TCAs, Benzo and all other available drugs. I think in such extreme cases, authorities should allow use of such substances.

MDMA is already being used today in medicine.
This is done legally by doctors prescribing combinations of legal medications to a patient which, when taken together substitutes MDMA.
