Quick update as I leave for vacation on Sunday and will not be able to post for a couple of weeks.
I'm very happy with the 2.5 mg/Lex for now. It's been I think almost 2 weeks since lowering the dose. Motivation has improved and fatigue has decreased. Even though there's some really bad stuff going on in my family right now that's making me cry a lot, I feel that I am not going into the dark pit of depression. I feel really bad and cry about it for a while, then my brain gets bored thinking about bad stuff and I want to go do something fun for a while. That is how I felt when the Prozac was working well for me several years ago.
However I do feel a daily shift in my moods as the Lex builds up in and then is metabolized out of my body. This is not so great. I may shift to taking it at night so that I sleep through some of that. Only concern is I'm afraid I may forget to take it as my morning routine is pretty set in stone but my night routine is a little scattered.
Talk to you all in 2011!

Have a great trip and a safe one. So glad the 2.5 of lexapro is working for you. I'm still also taking that. Although it is said it's a nontheraputic dose by some seems to be working well for you and that is terrific. Please come back. And be well and safe. Phillipa

merpmerp,
I'm glad to hear that you're doing well on the 2.5 mg of Lexapro, and I hope you have a good vacation.

Perhaps you could take 2.5mg of Lexapro morning and evening. If it were me, I wouldn't hold on too dearly to a notion that lowest possible dosage you can manage is best for you. I would not accept an afternoon relapse when using a higher dosage might obviate it. Perhaps more experimentation is in order.

Actually sometimes I feel *better* in the evening when the Lex is leaving my body. Sometimes the "activating" effect of the Lex makes me extremely anxious, sometimes it leaves me exhausted, and sometimes it makes me happy. Then as it leaves my body at night I might feel calm, or I might feel depressed. It's a daily cycle every day but it's not always the same effects. The "up" isn't always good and the "down" isn't always bad.
Leaving tomorrow!
