Beta Blockers + MAOI

Posted by henshaw75 on November 15, 2010, at 0:22:42

Hello,

My doctor recently recommended a beta blocker, Inderal, to help reduce panic attacks because my heart beats continunally fast when i'm in social places. I do know beta blockers like Inderal, reduce your blood pressure and I also take Nardil. He was recommending 10mg of Inderal 3 times a day, and I also take 75mg of Nardil.
I'm taking Xanax right now and it works, but I know I will build a tolerance to my low dose.

Do you think taking Beta blockers with Nardil is a smart idea or can I run into trouble taking two meds that both are prone to raising/lowering bp?

How does your blood pressure run now on the nardil high or low? Do you own a BP cuff? Might want to get one. Is your doc on top of your blood pressure? I guess try one when someone is with you and see if it works. Did he mean to take it as needed or continuously three times a day? Phillipa
