I am in the process of tirating down on my lactimal.
I am having a perculiar experience with it.
Each time I drop down a dose It seems to be working better and the effects are lasting. When I was tirating up I got a great mood bost at each tiration but it faded. Now that I am going down it seems to be sticking. Also I get rashy. On the inside of my arms and thighs. Bright red welts in blotches which have faint blister like things in the middle of them.
The rash pops up and intensifies in different areas and goes away usually withing 5-15 minutes although it is always present if you look closly at the areas.
Could this develop into SJ syndrome? Could it be just a harmless rash or are all rashes on lactimal pretty serious?
I went to see my dr about it and she scoffed at me and told me not to believe everything I read on the internet.

Huxley I would get a second opinion and maybe see a dermatologist. Why would your doc act like that? Phillipa

Huxley,
You wrote,[...my lactimal..I get rashy...could this develop...?]
If you are taking lamictal, there is in the liturature that a rash could be fatal. Your ER may or may not have experiance with the rash and could think that it is an allergic reaction of another source.
The rash, if it from lamictal, has in the liturature that the rash can allow bacteria to cause meningitus.
Could go to the nearest ER and explain about that you are taking this drug and that you would like someone to consider your course of treatment based upon that the rash could be from the drug since you are taking it? As to how one could differentiate your rash from poison ivy or an allergic reaction, I do not know.

However, it is not an uncommon phenomenon that someone feels temporarily better immediately after a dosage reduction of lamotrigine. Many people have been fooled by this. I hope this is not the case for you. For me, I am getting some benefit from taking 200mg. 150mg was not enough.
Please submit follow-up posts so that we can see how you are doing at the lower dosage.
Good luck.

First of all, your doctor is an idiot.
Secondly, are you taking any other meds with the Lamictal? I read that the likelihood of getting a rash increases if you are on other meds.
Just keep an eye that rash. If it get really funky go the ER. Did you get the rash when you were titrating lamictal up to a higher dose?

>Hi Maxime,
I think we can all agree that my doctor is an absoloute idiot and a danger to society. She has pretty much ruined my brain and my life.
I want to hold her to account somehow but how do you do it? These cowyboy doctors have a free reign.
The rash is ok, has gone away. It happens with every dose change, so all the way up to 400mg I got it. Mainly in patches on the inside of my forearms and thighs. At one time it flared up and covered my whole back which really freaked me out.
I took photos and showed my doctor who said it was hives as a result of anxiety.

> - ScottHi Scott,
It didn't stick. Lasted a week whereas on the way up it only lasted a day or two.
Lactimal has fooled me plenty of times so this is no great dissapointment.
It has been such a jekyl and hyde med for me. When it worked it really worked well but it was more of a high feeling than a normal feeling.
The problem was that during a day I would feel great for 4 hours almost maybe maniac then terrible for 4-6 then a little bit better.
Hope you have a bit more luck with it than I did.
This is the end of the thread.
