Cetirizine is an anti-anxiety/anti-depressant?

Posted by rovers95 on July 14, 2010, at 7:57:02

When i take cetirizine for my hayfever i have noticed that it makes me feel good - stimulating but good if i take it in the morning, i also feel worse when i come off it.

So has anyone heard of this before, have any proposed mechanisms...as id like to carry on taking it!

thanks

It's plausible. Other anthistamines have antidepressant properties.

Hmm. I know that chlorpheniramine definately has AD effects. It is an SNRI.

Yeah its stimulating (perhaps through increasing monoamines as you state) and anti-cholinergic i think/feel....even though the literature doesn't support this notion.
